Blogoversary Question-Attack With Rachel @Fiktshun

T_________________________________________________T
Insert me having a complete freak out. Melt down. Anything 'down'.
GUESS WHO IS HERE TODAY!!!!!!!!!
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
~freaks out some more~
I cannot believe it!!!
It has finally happened.

I gave in and stalked even more than my stalking persona would have thought I was capable of stalking and interviewed, well it was actually more of a question attack, my favorite blogger in history.

Really, if you don't believe me you just have to ask her and that's it...I don't know how she hasn't ran away crying out for help-not that it'd help her much, I'd still stalk her blogs-hehe but anyway, it's Rachel from Fiktshun, Fiktshun Ramblings, My Reading Pile and Fiktshun After Dark...see??? I have plenty of material to stalk hehehe.

She has been amazing to me.
Always.
Since day one.

I have no complaints no bad comments not anything she's really the blogger I look up to. So of course I was all jitters and stuff when I finally gathered the courage to ask her for the interview XD

Suffice it to say, at the end I thought I had pretty much rocked her world and everything will all these questions but of course, she had different plans because when she sent the answers she had the last word...I was TERRIFIED of the parting line of that email.
But here she is, being her awesome almost-robin hood- persona.

Please bear with me, this is the last post of the blogoversary celebration. Tomorrow's the wrap up. And I couldn't think of any other better way to end this party than with her... Have fun!!!

1. We can't start without trying to know a bit about yourself. So, can you tell us a bit about you?
Do we have to? I hate talking about myself. Hey, that tells you something about me, right? That’s enough!

Oh, okay. Let’s see. I’m a full-grown adult person, though I’m not always sure that’s the case mentally…. I have a very real and demanding job – gotta pay for those books somehow – but no kiddies. Not sure I’m mature enough to raise little people.

If I could be an eternal student, I would. I love learning things. Just always hated the structure of school and those core requirements. But I loved being in school, although I was never the most popular girl. But then again I never wanted to be. I don’t like the spotlight. Never have.

Alba: ~uh oh, don't like the spotlight? I think I did something wrong here already D= ~
Right or wrong I’ve always tended to do my own thing. I don’t really like following the crowd. Crowds make me nervous. Which is why my blog is the way it is and will probably always be a mid-tier blog on the verge of total anonymity.

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. When I was a child it was a writer, but now I haven’t the first clue. And yes, I’ve been officially considered a grown up for a long time so that doesn’t bode well for me.

I met the love of my life when I was a teenager and while it was no fairytale story, he’s my very best friend and someone I could not spend a second on this earth without.

Alba: ~awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww my helpless romantic persona showing~

As far as reading, I love all kinds of books, but fiction will always be my true love. And while I am testing the waters of non-YA paranormal/UF, I am still madly, passionately in love with all things YA. Which is kind of surprising because typically after a few years I like to switch genres.

I hope that’s more than enough and not TMI….

Alba: ~Nope, not TMI at all~

2. What do you think are your strongest and weakest points at being a blogger?
Weak points are way too many to list here without putting people to sleep before they get to the rest of the one million questions you asked!

~¬¬ no comments, well one comment, there aren't that many. Right?~
But I would say overextending myself – too many blogs. Inconsistency – no real set days for my posts. Unpreparedness – no posts saved for a rainy day. Unresponsiveness – I have gotten terrible at responding to email.

Strengths? Hmmm. Honesty - my thoughts and posts and reviews are my own and I don’t promote anything I don’t believe in or don’t think I’ll love. Hard-working – I work hard at doing what I do. I have no magical skills that make my posts write themselves, no special talent to market my blogs or format my posts. I have no more time than anyone else to do it. I work a full-time job, I have a life outside of blogging and believe it or not I require sleep like everyone else does.

I think that’s about it.

3. What was your favorite book as a kid?
What age are we talking? I loved the Beatrix Potter books when I was young-young. And for years I loved The Complete Grimm’s Fairy Tales. But if we’re talking pre-teen through teen, I’d have to say Dune by Frank Herbert. Of course then I discovered Stephen King….

4. What's your favorite genre to read, why?
Well these days it’s YA. Sub-genre in YA would be paranormal/urban fantasy. Why? Because it’s awesome. Enough said. Just kidding… sort of.

I have always loved stories that had adventure and that were a little bit magical. I love getting transported into a different world, with characters who are battling evil, falling in love and taking all sorts of risks. The addition of the paranormal element makes it that more fantastical and therefore that much more exciting for me. I don’t read to dive into reality, I have enough of that every day.

5. Tell us your top 5 -I know this is a hard one so you can always add extras- authors and which book of theirs you like the most?
It’s not too hard since you didn’t say top five YA authors.

1. Stephen King. The Dark Tower series.

2. Richard Bachman. The Long Walk. (No, that’s not cheating!)

3. Janet Fitch. Paint it Black.

4. The Brothers Grimm. All their fairy tales.

5. John Steinbeck. East of Eden.

But if I had to pick top five YA, it would have to be authors I’ve read at least three books from.… though there’s one author I can’t list though I really, really want to….

1. Cassandra Clare. The Mortal Instruments series.

2. Holly Black. The Curseworkers series.

3. Rachel Vincent. The Soul Screamers series.

4. Lauren Oliver. Before I Fall.

5. Maggie Stiefvater. The Wolves of Mercy Falls series.

6. What's your favorite quote?
Well, I can’t reveal my favorite quote here since it’s not appropriate for all ages, but, hmmm…. And I have a million that always make me want to cry. But I’ll stick with one that stands for what I truly believe.

Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” Oscar Wilde.

7. What was your favorite past time as a kid, is it the same now? ~LOL~
Well, I always loved reading when I was a child. Always. And I always loved going to the movies. Still do, though not as much. But I used to just like playing outside. Running around the neighborhood, building forts, snowball fights, playing tag, doing cartwheels until I got too dizzy to stand, flying kites, playing pretend, lying in the grass just watching the sky. I don’t get to play outside much anymore since I live in cities and I have no yard and I’m not a child.

8.If the Earth suddenly became uninhabitable, would you rather live under the sea or in space?
Under the sea. I love the water. I used to pretend that I lived underwater when I was little. I’d stay in the pool or in the ocean for hours and hours. I loved the quiet. Space scares the heck out of me. So cold. So distant. So remote.

9. Any pet peeves you'd be willing to share with us?
Post-its. They drive me insane. They’re supposed to be these little sticky helpful reminders, instead they end up being clutter with random notes that I have no memory of writing.

And certain food peeves – I’ll only name two. I can’t watch, or listen to, someone drinking soup. Using a spoon, totally fine. Slurping, totally fine. Gulping it from a cup skeeves me out to no end. *Shudders.*

Someone eating yogurt (not the frozen kind)… and talking. That gloopy-gloppy noise affects the way they speak. So, icky. And if there’s a visual, ewwwww.

10. If you could live in any period of time other than the present, which would it be & why?
1950s. I love mid-century everything. I’m sure I’d hate it if I actually lived back then, but I totally want to experience growing up in the 1950s and early 60s. I always was obsessed with that period of time when I was little and always felt I was born in the wrong decade.

11. Favorite Music?
Shoot. This is tough. You are asking some seriously HARD questions. I am super particular about my music, but I like tons. And I don’t think the labels are accurate these days so I don’t like specifying a certain “type.” But bands/artists? A few I am listening to these days are T.S.O.L., the Subhumans, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, the Eagles, Green Day, Muse, Florence + The Machine, Weezer, Blink-182, David Bowie, Iron & Wine. Yep, all over the map.

12. What's the funniest thing a follower has ever asked you? ~LOL~
Funny ha ha or funny weird? I don’t know if anyone asked me anything ha ha funny. I get a few weird questions, mostly by email or when I was on Formspring – like, “How many tattoos do you have?”...Um, who said I had any? And what does that have to do with my blogging? But, although I do get a bunch of questions, I don’t really get a lot of questions about me. Which I’m glad about.

13. Any secret obsession that you'd like to convert to non-secret?
I don’t really have any secret obsessions. All of my obsessions are fairly obvious, right? I overdo everything. So, yeah, I am obsessive about practically everything I do. But maybe everyone online doesn’t know that I’m obsessed with the idea of having a place for everything and having everything in its place. A chaotic environment drives me crazy. And so of course post-its are the bane of my existence. Yet I use them all the time, LOL.

14. If you could be any female character of any book, which one would it be and why?
I don’t want to be any female character in the books I read. They all have terrible, terrible things happen to them. If I had to be like a character in one of the books I read it would have to be Kaylee Cavanaugh from Rachel Vincent’s Soul Screamers series. She’s brave, selfless, intelligent and a little bit reckless. But I’d never want to be her, what with the thing that happened at the end of If I Die and the whole Nash business. And of course being a banshee doesn’t sound like too much fun. Oh and the swirly eyes that reveal her emotions. Nope, would not want that.
Alba: ~This question was one of my favorites but I knew she'd answer with something that I didn't expect~

15. What's your current read & what's next on the pile for you? :)
By the time this posts I’ll have finished reading both of these, but currently I’m reading Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. My next read is Insurgent by Veronica Roth.

Now with the quicker than quickest ones hehe <--- Does that even make sense?

-Ocean or Forest
Ocean. Hands down. Love the forest, but nothing beats looking out over an endless sea.

-Tea or Coffee
Coffee. I really, really want to be a tea girl but I always choose coffee.

-Sweet or Salty
Salty. But when the two are mixed – ahhhh, Nirvana.

-Original or Remake
Oh that’s tough! My initial response was Original. But every once in a while a remake is good…. Just can’t remember one of those offhand.

-Drama or Comedy
Drama. Oh I love to laugh, but I’m so particular. Unless it’s my kind of comedy I’m bored to tears.

- Summer, Spring, Autumn or Winter
Why did you have to ask this, LOL? I love all the seasons for so many reasons. But I guess it would have to be spring for the same clichéd reasons everyone loves it – it’s a time of rebirth, blah, blah, blah. But I actually think I really love it most because I still get that feeling of excitement as I did knowing that school would be ending soon even though I’m not in school anymore and haven’t been for a while.

-Skittles or M&M's
Seriously? You’re evil! Um, I guess now it would be Skittles. If you asked me a few months ago it would probably have been peanut M&M’s. But right now that rainbow candy sounds super yummy. May have to head out and grab some…. See ya!

-Read With music or Without
Without. Even if there was music on it would be kind of pointless. Well, at least if the story was good. I get so caught up in the world that everything tunes out, so it would be like I didn’t have anything on in the background even if I did.

-Early Riser or Night Owl
Night Owl. I am both, in the sense that I stay up late and get up early, but I love the night.

-Describe yourself in 3 words!
(Grrr, Alba. Again? Really, you know how I am about being sparse with my words….)

Intense. Quirky. Private.

OMG! I rock! See how many times she had a hard time answering? hehehe I call that a job well done ;)
And yeap, you see now? She rocks! And she's too good even for her own good XD
I love her to the death!!

  11. @Alba - I will never tell you the story, mwahahaha!

BUT I will say that I'm sorry I made you cry in front of your mom and sister. :(

WHEN I interview you, I will have to think up some really AWESOME questions. :) I can be wicked, too. Maybe not as wicked as you were. ;)

@Lisette - I only have 3 tattoos, but I want a fourth. Maybe a fifth. :) And all my piercings are from the neck up. ;)

@Ana - Oh no! You would not want to live in California then. It's all about the ocean. :)
