On My -Currently Reading- Shelf

Image
I have never been one to read more than one book at a time but for some reason I refuse to put 2 of the next 3 books back on my TBR pile and instead just continue having them on my Goodreads' -currently reading- shelf hahaha Actively reading; Claimed by M. Never (Decadence After Dark #2) - goodreads - MAN!!!!! These books are HAWT and SEXY and damn! Really... I have no words. They're yummy if you're into the dominant type ;) No more to say, just read them. They're fast reads too! The two books I'm not actively reading are; Salt by Nayyirah Waheed - goodreads - I'm easily influenced and convinced to try to read poetry, specially this kind AND it's all #bookstagram 's fault XD so that's why I even own this book, it was free and I had been seeing a lot of poems from it for a while now, I couldn't pass up the chance to download it to my kindle. I usually pull this up on my app when I'm waiting in line while running errands ...

-thoughts, banned book- The Wild by K. Webster

- goodreads - FYI It was an adventure trying to get this book. I love reading, I love reading sexy times and I rarely shy away from dark romances with rough sexy times. What I rarely read are books that stretch the limits of my comfort zone until I am not even sure those limits are within sight. The Wild by K. Webster was one of those books. It was good it was bad and it was a complete guilty pleasure of a read if only because I'd already been a fan of the author's writing long before I found out about this book, my awesome friend April from the blog Rad Babes Read  brought it to my attention and well... the rest is history. - Nipping and sucking. Desperation in a kiss.- This book isn't for everyone, I got that I respected that just as I hoped people would respect it but apparently that was asking for too much. But worry not, it's good in a twisted kind of way that'll leave you asking yourself if you've morals at all at some point, while pant...

-review- Corrupt by Penelope Douglas

- Goodreads - Such a dark, amazing, thrilling, sexy, inspiring, weird journey. I loved every second of it. All my senses were overloading, my heart beating miles a minute, my thoughts going every which way, my fingertips tingling from heartbreak, my head swelling from proudness. I can't believe how fast I was able to connect and relate to Erika & Michael but I'm so very happy that I did and that the authors writing was such that I did so quickly and happily. I read Bully long ago and it still holds a place in my heart to this day because it just was awesome. But this book, -le sigh- this book had me thinking a lot about choices we make because of rules that others set for us. It's okay to be a little crazy, it's okay to want more, it's okay to want to be happy and it's okay to make mistakes, you might say we've pretty much exhausted that topic in real life with everything going on around the world... But it doesn't hurt to be taught l...

-review- You Own Me by Mary Catherine Gebhard

- Goodreads - Wow I've never read a book that made less sense than this one, that dragged on and on like this one, that went round and round in circles like this one but still made me love it. I loved every single thing. Call me crazy, cuz I know I am. But this was such an amazing read for me... from fudged up relationships, to stalkers, to mental illness, to physical and mental abuse, to friendships, to broken families, to sad upbringings, to therapist after therapist after therapist, to sexy times and clouds were those sexy times, to amazing inner monologue. Lenny's "voice" was so much fun yet a nightmare to read. I immediately identified a lot of myself with her, reading things from her POV was a blessing and a curse but I loved it either way. Even after all the poop she's gone through she still manages to somewhat be an amazing woman on a daily basis. And whenever she wasn't? Those days just made her even more real to me. The one thing I...

-review- Dark Domination by Lili Valente

- Goodreads - (Read this February this year when I was in a Dark Romance kick) Still more dark romance. While there was no romance in this one I thoroughly enjoyed the writing and characters. I don't exactly know what it was about the author's writing style, story and character development but I can't complain. I was hooked since that first sentence. The one thing I will say is, this is definitely NOT a full-length novel, it reads more like a novella. Roughly 100 pages long from how quickly I finished it. I felt like things were just starting to happen when it ended and by the glimpses of reviews I've read on other sites I'll heed to the recommendation of buying the "book bundle" that has all novellas in it. Although it is really pushing the limits on the price scale since alone, the 100+ pages novellas are 3 bucks and the entire series which is 300+ is like 6 bucks. And I have something with ebooks and printed book prices haha. Anyway. It ...

-review- This Is War Baby by K. Webster

- Goodreads - "Because the queen always protects the king." And then she whispers the last part. "Even from himself." I've never been happier about the fact that I rarely read newly released books as I am right now. But boy am I happy. I love the name of the series. I love the name of him and her. I love and hate everything right now and I'm so incredibly ready to know what in the world will happen in the end. As in the end of the series! This is a really dark book at the beginning that turns a bit brighter as the story progresses but only a little brighter. There's a lot of scenes that happen that can potentially trigger some episodes so beware of it. A lot of physical and psychological abuse. A lot of mental illness involved. But aside from that. I am really shocked at how much I liked this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. From the writing, even if there are some typos and editing errors here and there, to how the story flowed and you n...

Wish To Be Reading... #3 (YA)

Image
Another Friday, another wishful read. YA Edition! Today I would love to be able to reread a favorite book of mine. One that got to me in so many ways, I was a completely different person when I finished reading it. It was one of the very first contemporary books I read (Second only to, If I Stay by Gayle Forman) and wow, simply wow. I really wish more people knew about this book but for the time being I'll just wish I could be reading... ~~~~~ Goodreads - Amazon  - My Review ***Marc said he heard the dark song when he creeped houses. The song the predator's heart sings when it hears the heart of the prey. I heard it now. Marc said it had always been in me. Lurking. Waiting for me to hear.*** ~~~~~ I loved this book, hope I get to read it again sometime soon. Until next time my beautiful people <3 -Alba
