***The students of Green Lane Academy roam their halls unaware that below their manicured campus exists a prestigious school of an entirely different kind . . .

Sixteen-year-old Phoebe Pope has enrolled at the Campus Below: a spy academy for shape-shifters hidden deep beneath the grounds of a boarding school whose humans unknowingly protect it. There, thanks to a carefully planned schedule, she leads a double life: spy trainee Below and normal teenager Above.

As if two course loads, concealing a secret power she alone wields, and coping with her father’s recent death weren’t enough, Phoebe finds herself developing major feelings for actor and teen heartthrob Colten Chase, who attends the Campus Above and appears to be majoring in winning Phoebe’s heart. But when officials learn that Phoebe may be at the center of a startling prophecy, she becomes the target of shape-shifting assassins who will stop at nothing to suppress the truth.

Now Phoebe’s lessons about Shaper’s enemies and spycraft take on great importance as a menace stalks the campus, with Phoebe as its target. Meanwhile, what began as an unlikely relationship with Colten, quickly morphs into heartache when she suspects that something sinister lurks beneath this movie star’s glitter and fame. Suddenly, Phoebe’s caught in a mesh of lies, betrayals, and danger where she doesn’t know who to trust, and needs to rely on herself—and her secret power—to get to the truth and to stay alive.

My thoughts?
Genius!
I can't think of a better word to describe it! I pretty much knew from page 1 that I had made a good decision when I agreed to review this book.
I mean, first of all... would you look at this cover O_O
IT IS TO DIE FOR!

And then we have the tittle! It's long BUT catchy! I was intrigued ever since I saw and read it.
So yeap, I'm starting with my weaknesses!
First, The book cover? It goes amazingly well with the whole story!!! You'll see why. Trust me.
Second, The book tittle? It's on the book as much as it is IN the book... So DOUBLE POINTS for the author!

Moving on.
Phoebe Pope and The Year of Four was such a surprising enjoyable read. While at parts predictable, there was definitely ONE very important thing that I didn't see coming until it was right in front of my face. Filled with twists, turns, curves, awesome hair, amazing storyline, and a plot that will almost always keep you guessing.

"This very moment. How do you feel? Say the first word that comes to your mind."
"Flummoxed," Phoebe blurted...

I cared so very much for the characters, each and every single one of them. Oh boy, and Phoebe? She was absolutely delightful! She's a character I completely felt for and immediately connected with. No I'm definitely NOT a daughter of Osisah and even less one of Gavya. And well, the fact that she loves to take pictures DEFINITELY helped with that connection lol. But, argh, it's hard to put it into words. Let me just tell you, READ the book and you'll find out.

Hear now, this book also gave me a complex... How come so many book characters can bake? If I wasn't sweating for all the hardships that Phoebe faces and encounters at every turned page OR blushing when a certain superstar appeared out of nowhere with a freaking awesome and extremely cute tomato-yes, you read right, TOMATO- then I was certainly DROOLING over Hayley's baking X_X I mean it! I think her baking should have made a character all on its' own and even have a leading role in the story... Though for me, it did. At all times.

Scott, Mariko, Lewis, Yelena, Afua... Oh god... ALL the characters had a story to tell and I was just too happy to oblige and indulge them.

The author's writing was neat, clean, and flowed with ease. I thank her for that. It was kind of awesome though... Because I am wary of books being told like from a third point of view instead of a complete first person one.

-...Watching moonlight seep into the horizon like pale translucent tentacles reaching up to embrace the darkening sky around them.-

And Colten? Colten I MUST have. Besides making me believe yet again that... Bad is the new good... He also traumatized me and I'll NEVER look at a tomato the same way EVER again.

The setting! COMPLETELY Believable and absolutely real. I didn't have ANY trouble imagining anything... Specially with the help of the drawings that appeared in between the pages of my book... I don't know if this is a final copy but if it is... Then awesome, if not... WOW it SHOULD be in the final book.

My HEARTS, I mean heart. Though I really really wish I were THAT cool and have TWO hearts...
-winkwink-
Okay... Moving on and trying to end this before I get to the part in which THAT happens... THAT definitely was... O_O

A heart-robbing original story, filled with so much love, so many friendships, so many enemies, so much betrayal and hurt, with so many hearts... With so many bakery... Seriously though, it IS heart-robbing, heart-stopping and ORIGINAL in such a fresh way -except for 2 times in which I thought HP for a moment...-
I haven't read a story this fresh since I read the Soul Screamers series... And THAT my friend is saying something... Don't take that lightly.

"Ooh I want details!" Hayley squealed... "Give me something to chew on."
Straight-faced, SHE said, "He sleeps naked."...

I cannot for the love of me, WAIT for the sequel.
I NEED to know, I MUST know what the author has in store for Phoebe and her awesome hair, I want to know what exactly this Year of Four is going to be about. I want to know more about Vigos and I really really don't want for Phoebe to go where I know she'll go...
I just want to cuddle with Colten and have tomatoes in between.

Another story that confirms that love still is the strongest weapon of all. That bad is the new good. That wings are IN and that tomatoes have been taken for granted WAY too much and too long all these past years.

Believe me, you don't want to miss this story. You don't want to miss the fights, the shifters, the wings, the cats-big HUGE cats- you definitely do NOT want to miss the two beating hearts that take center stage in the story and you absolutely do NOT want to miss getting to know all these characters that will make you laugh out loud, cry for absolutely nothing and smile like a kid in the middle of a candy store all at once.

"Tiger's eyes providing protection from Tigers," Phoebe thought aloud. "Ironic."

The Vigos are waiting... But... For how long? And for WHO exactly?

Author Nya Jade, Thanks so very very much for writing. This book delivers exactly what it promises!

PLEASE!! Sequel!! Come soon!!

I give this book,

5fotitos=~Sobs hard~Too good to be true!

Now lets get to know a bit about the author.

AUTHOR BIO

Nya Jade is a singer-songwriter and author based in San Francisco. Her music videos have aired on the VH1, BET, and MTV networks. USA Today hailed Nya as a “young female troubadour worth keeping your eyes and ears on,” in an entertainment feature on up-and-coming singer-songwriters. “Her cool singing voice recalls Sade,” said the LA Times.
Between writing and performing new music, Nya took a musical sabbatical to focus on writing a novel—an endeavor she found quite daunting, until she began looking at each chapter as a verse in a very long song. Phoebe Pope and the Year of Four is her first novel.
In her free time, Nya enjoys hanging out with family and friends, searching for amazing gluten-free desserts, and bargain hunting for her next pair of funky shoes.
Nya holds a B.A. in Economics and an M.A. in Sociology, both from Stanford University.
