Adam looked cool and charming, never losing control of the situation. But inside, he fought the urge to sweep Ella up from the sand and carry her off. He wanted her, and he wanted her badly, which distressed him. He knew he shouldn’t have returned to the beach, but he’d promised and though he had many character flaws, he was a man of his word, or he tried to be. So here he was, engaged in polite introductions, kissing her hand with laudable politeness. Yet, that’s not what he wanted to be doing with her, not at all.
