-Cover Reveal- Out Of Play by Nyrae Dawn & Jolene Perry

Welcome to the cover reveal of
Out Of Play!

I now,
Present you...

Just look ;)

*** Rock star drummer Bishop Riley doesn't have a problem. Celebrities—especially ones suffering from anxiety—deserve to party, right? Wrong. After taking a few too many pills, Bishop wakes up in the hospital facing an intervention. If he wants to stay in the band, he’ll have to detox while under house arrest in Seldon, Alaska.

Hockey player Penny Jones can't imagine a life outside of Seldon. Though she has tons of scholarship offers, the last thing she wants is to leave. Who'll take care of her absent-minded gramps? Not her mother, who can’t even be bothered with the new tenants next door.

Penny’s too hung up on another guy to deal with Bishop’s crappy attitude, and Bishop’s too busy
sneaking pills to care. Until he starts hanging out with Gramps. If Bishop wants a chance with the fiery girl next door, he’ll have to admit he has a problem and kick it. Too bad addiction is hard to kick…and Bishop’s about to run out of time. ***

-BookPics Is Curious- New Blog Features?

New year,
New beginnings,
New... Everythings...
At least that is what I thought back on January.

Now we're going on March and so far the only new things I'm doing on the blog are participate on book cover reveals and on some blog tours, okay a LOT of blog tours, but well... My site isn't known for participating and hosting blog tour stops for books...
But I'm doing it so that's GOT to count!!

Now... This monday I was thinking.

Why not start a feature to help promote and share the love of the 2 things that have made my time as a book blogger one of the best experiences of my life?

I want to give shout-outs to book authors!
Doing some kind of author of the month thing?
I know, it's definitely NOT the most original idea but... I just though if I gave it my touch it'd be kind of nice :D And I'd get to pick and choose how I do it!
And if any author would like to be considered to be an author of the month they can always email me :D

So yeap, that would be a monthly thing... Maybe if the author has several books published I'd feature one each week of the month or something.
LOL Help me out with some ideas?

Then I also wanted to give shout-outs to the BLOGGERS! Without whom life in the blogosphere would be boring and lame.
They bring up the spice and each and every single one of them give their best to have content for the various types of likings that we all have.

And since I follow tons, know millions exist but visit regularly a few and just stalk one on a daily basis... I thought I'd go with a weekly thing for bloggers :D

As long as they aren't bloggers solely based on reviewing and reading Historical and Erotica I'm fine with it.
I read Adult :) But... Well... We'll see...

This is all kind of just brewing right now so if you have any tips or just want to share an idea or thought leave a comment or email me.

I'd love to know what you think.

Oh yeap...
I already have the first blogger I'll be featuring...
Help with the author?

-It CAN be indie ONLY if I've read their books OR work with them previously in one way or another. Sorry.-
I'll change that last part as I grow into this...

For now I'll just click on "Publish" and see what I can think up tonight :D

Sorry... I just kind of jumped straight in without much thought into this post but I'll try to write another one later :)
Or just update this one?

Bare with me <33333

-Book Blitz + Giveaway- Radiant by Christina Daley

This is definitely the kind of book that hooks me just by reading the first sentence of the description, yes I read part of the description.
I know it's been a while since its release date but that's why there'll be a giveaway of the book at the bottom of this so make sure to check that out :D

Radiant by Christina Daley
Publication date: February 12th 2013
Genre: YA Paranormal Romance
*** Mary is part Vietnamese. Carter is a complete jerk. Normally, they don't talk much.

But when Mary's in an accident on the way to school one morning, Carter nearly dies saving her life. The doctors say his chances of living are slim, and Mary's feeling the full weight of survivor's guilt.

However, Carter's back at school in a matter of days, as if nothing had happened. Although, he is a little "glitchy," and he's developed a sudden and intense interest in Mary. She thinks he's suffering from major brain trauma from the accident. Or that he's been possessed.

As it so happens, Carter really is possessed. And the thing controlling him is having the time of its life learning to be human.

Featuring a diverse cast of characters, RADIANT is a funny "paranormal-lite" story about being human, being in love, and being healed.

About the author,

Christina Daley made her first book with neighborhood friends when she was four years old. They "wrote" out some semblance of lettering with crayons, cut up a cardboard box for the cover, and bound it all together with clear adhesive tape. It was brilliant.
Quite a few years later, Christina is trying her hand at writing "real" books. She lives in Dallas, Texas, with a pet plant named Herb.

Anyway, there's a review involved plus a HUGE and when I say HUGE I mean HUGE giveaway as well!
Let's get it over and done with shall we?
I cannot wait to share all my rambling thoughts about this book with you all!

But first, lets get to know the book a bit ;)

Cover designed by Phatpuppy Art.

Pub. Date: October 30th 2012 - Dreamwell Publishing

***The students of Green Lane Academy roam their halls unaware that below their manicured campus exists a prestigious school of an entirely different kind . . .

Sixteen-year-old Phoebe Pope has enrolled at the Campus Below: a spy academy for shape-shifters hidden deep beneath the grounds of a boarding school whose humans unknowingly protect it. There, thanks to a carefully planned schedule, she leads a double life: spy trainee Below and normal teenager Above.

As if two course loads, concealing a secret power she alone wields, and coping with her father’s recent death weren’t enough, Phoebe finds herself developing major feelings for actor and teen heartthrob Colten Chase, who attends the Campus Above and appears to be majoring in winning Phoebe’s heart. But when officials learn that Phoebe may be at the center of a startling prophecy, she becomes the target of shape-shifting assassins who will stop at nothing to suppress the truth.

Now Phoebe’s lessons about Shaper’s enemies and spycraft take on great importance as a menace stalks the campus, with Phoebe as its target. Meanwhile, what began as an unlikely relationship with Colten, quickly morphs into heartache when she suspects that something sinister lurks beneath this movie star’s glitter and fame. Suddenly, Phoebe’s caught in a mesh of lies, betrayals, and danger where she doesn’t know who to trust, and needs to rely on herself—and her secret power—to get to the truth and to stay alive.

Find it on,

My thoughts?
I can't think of a better word to describe it! I pretty much knew from page 1 that I had made a good decision when I agreed to review this book.
I mean, first of all... would you look at this cover O_O

And then we have the tittle! It's long BUT catchy! I was intrigued ever since I saw and read it.
So yeap, I'm starting with my weaknesses!
First, The book cover? It goes amazingly well with the whole story!!! You'll see why. Trust me.
Second, The book tittle? It's on the book as much as it is IN the book... So DOUBLE POINTS for the author!

Moving on.
Phoebe Pope and The Year of Four was such a surprising enjoyable read. While at parts predictable, there was definitely ONE very important thing that I didn't see coming until it was right in front of my face. Filled with twists, turns, curves, awesome hair, amazing storyline, and a plot that will almost always keep you guessing.

"This very moment. How do you feel? Say the first word that comes to your mind."
"Flummoxed," Phoebe blurted...

I cared so very much for the characters, each and every single one of them. Oh boy, and Phoebe? She was absolutely delightful! She's a character I completely felt for and immediately connected with. No I'm definitely NOT a daughter of Osisah and even less one of Gavya. And well, the fact that she loves to take pictures DEFINITELY helped with that connection lol. But, argh, it's hard to put it into words. Let me just tell you, READ the book and you'll find out.

Hear now, this book also gave me a complex... How come so many book characters can bake? If I wasn't sweating for all the hardships that Phoebe faces and encounters at every turned page OR blushing when a certain superstar appeared out of nowhere with a freaking awesome and extremely cute tomato-yes, you read right, TOMATO- then I was certainly DROOLING over Hayley's baking X_X I mean it! I think her baking should have made a character all on its' own and even have a leading role in the story... Though for me, it did. At all times.

Scott, Mariko, Lewis, Yelena, Afua... Oh god... ALL the characters had a story to tell and I was just too happy to oblige and indulge them.

The author's writing was neat, clean, and flowed with ease. I thank her for that. It was kind of awesome though... Because I am wary of books being told like from a third point of view instead of a complete first person one.

-...Watching moonlight seep into the horizon like pale translucent tentacles reaching up to embrace the darkening sky around them.-

And Colten? Colten I MUST have. Besides making me believe yet again that... Bad is the new good... He also traumatized me and I'll NEVER look at a tomato the same way EVER again.

The setting! COMPLETELY Believable and absolutely real. I didn't have ANY trouble imagining anything... Specially with the help of the drawings that appeared in between the pages of my book... I don't know if this is a final copy but if it is... Then awesome, if not... WOW it SHOULD be in the final book.

My HEARTS, I mean heart. Though I really really wish I were THAT cool and have TWO hearts...
Okay... Moving on and trying to end this before I get to the part in which THAT happens... THAT definitely was... O_O

A heart-robbing original story, filled with so much love, so many friendships, so many enemies, so much betrayal and hurt, with so many hearts... With so many bakery... Seriously though, it IS heart-robbing, heart-stopping and ORIGINAL in such a fresh way -except for 2 times in which I thought HP for a moment...-
I haven't read a story this fresh since I read the Soul Screamers series... And THAT my friend is saying something... Don't take that lightly.

"Ooh I want details!" Hayley squealed... "Give me something to chew on."
Straight-faced, SHE said, "He sleeps naked."...

I cannot for the love of me, WAIT for the sequel.
I NEED to know, I MUST know what the author has in store for Phoebe and her awesome hair, I want to know what exactly this Year of Four is going to be about. I want to know more about Vigos and I really really don't want for Phoebe to go where I know she'll go...
I just want to cuddle with Colten and have tomatoes in between.

Another story that confirms that love still is the strongest weapon of all. That bad is the new good. That wings are IN and that tomatoes have been taken for granted WAY too much and too long all these past years.

Believe me, you don't want to miss this story. You don't want to miss the fights, the shifters, the wings, the cats-big HUGE cats- you definitely do NOT want to miss the two beating hearts that take center stage in the story and you absolutely do NOT want to miss getting to know all these characters that will make you laugh out loud, cry for absolutely nothing and smile like a kid in the middle of a candy store all at once.

"Tiger's eyes providing protection from Tigers," Phoebe thought aloud. "Ironic."

The Vigos are waiting... But... For how long? And for WHO exactly?

Author Nya Jade, Thanks so very very much for writing. This book delivers exactly what it promises!

PLEASE!! Sequel!! Come soon!!

I give this book,

5fotitos=~Sobs hard~Too good to be true!

Now lets get to know a bit about the author.

Nya Jade is a singer-songwriter and author based in San Francisco. Her music videos have aired on the VH1, BET, and MTV networks. USA Today hailed Nya as a “young female troubadour worth keeping your eyes and ears on,” in an entertainment feature on up-and-coming singer-songwriters. “Her cool singing voice recalls Sade,” said the LA Times.
Between writing and performing new music, Nya took a musical sabbatical to focus on writing a novel—an endeavor she found quite daunting, until she began looking at each chapter as a verse in a very long song. Phoebe Pope and the Year of Four is her first novel.
In her free time, Nya enjoys hanging out with family and friends, searching for amazing gluten-free desserts, and bargain hunting for her next pair of funky shoes.
Nya holds a B.A. in Economics and an M.A. in Sociology, both from Stanford University.

*** Two years after watching her kidnappers go to prison, Naomi Jensen is still in love with one of them. Jesse will be released in a few years, and Naomi knows college is the perfect distraction while she waits. But when her new friend Finn makes her question what is right and what is wrong, she begins to wonder if Jesse is the one for her … until she discovers he's out on parole. Naomi must sort through her confusion to figure out where love and freedom truly lie—in Finn, who has no connections to her past, or Jesse, who has just asked her to run away with him. ***

Pieces is a companion to The Breakaway and can be read independently, if desired.

Barnes & Noble

Where to start!

I have to say though, as some kind of side note, that I'm so glad this is a companion as opposed to being a sequel. Meaning, you can actually read it without having read the first book...
Because, I couldn't read the first one... As in, I couldn't get into it...

This book was a whole other story,
Yes, Naomi was so self-conscious all the time, always second guessing herself, always doubting, always trying to stay away from everyone around her.
I mean, who wouldn't? After surviving almost a year as a 'prisoner' if you may... These people kidnap her and all of a sudden she cares for them?
So I guess it would be hard on her to learn how long they'll be spending in jail for what they did, because NAOMI, WHAT THEY DID WAS WRONG!

The setting was believable and well described and written...

Whereas the characters... Trust me, they were amazingly written and you could almost always picture them perfectly... But sometimes their personalities kind of brought me down... Specially Naomi's... Okay, being true to myself... ONLY Naomi's...

Do NOT get me wrong... This book surprised me...
REALLY surprised me... Because I've never felt this strong for a character... Sure I've related to almost all the characters from the books I read and I live all their stories while reading them... I suffer with them, I root for/with them, I cry with them... I mean... I'm just like that with books...
But in this case... With Naomi and how the author wrote her?
I wasn't living her story I DIDN'T want to... I was like this third party goer (a happy third wheel) watching from a distance and trying to comprehend everything she was going through...

It was an amazing experience if I do say so myself. I think this has never happened to me before, I always get completely immersed in the stories I read... But in this case I think I was more like invested...
I wanted to find a way to help Naomi grow up, I wanted for her to think for herself for just a second... I wanted to be her friend instead of her... Because wow...

I never would have let her believe that she HAD to do for Jesse what she did... Argh...
This is frustrating... trying to explain this to you...

Just know though... I loved Naomi as much as I hated her... And I'm pretty sure I can count on one hand how many books have made me feel that towards a female main character that has been through a traumatic experience.

Yes, I was invested in the story. Yes, I loved loved the writing. I love how sometimes the story pace was slow while others were fast. DEFINITELY A PAGE TURNER! Yes, I fell in love with Finn and THAT is a character I would very much like for myself. Yes, I hated all the parts with the boy Naomi thinks she is in love with.
Yes, I almost broke my tablet because I couldn't stand most of the decisions that were made. Yes, I cried. Yes, I identified somewhat with Naomi's personality...

If you're into books involving;
Characters with an awful, as in, kidnappedforayear kind of thing, and them overcoming all that...
And if you,
Love LOVE that is LITERALLY blind.
Like Italy.
Love cakes.
And believe that... You cannot erase your past... But you can very much start scribbling and living and making up your future?
Give this a try... You might be surprised just as I was...

As for my weaknesses?
Only one... The book tittle was in the book as well so ;) That is worth one star ;)
Adding it up------->

I give this book

3fotitos = Might've made me cry.

Now you might be wondering, if it DID make me cry... Why didn't I give it my awesome over the top rating??? It was mainly Naomi's personality... It was infuriating while also being real... Sweet while being pathetic... Innocent while being guilty...
As you can see... My thoughts are all over the place and I had such a hard time writing this review and choosing the rating... In the end this was the best I could now...
Now if you let me... I have a date with Finn, some iced tea, and a certain awesome almond cake :D

Pieces Excerpt

The calls and texts from her mother kept coming. Naomi, please call me. Please. Did you go stay with that man you were talking about? Hasn’t the semester started again already? And then Finn sent another text. Please let me know you’re okay. I went to see Becca, but she hasn’t heard from you, either. She said you moved back home? What happened with Jesse? Oh, and I have something great to tell you about my mom. That night, a few hours after she read Finn’s text, Naomi buried her face in her hands. She couldn’t keep lying to Jesse. It felt so wrong. Everything was stacking up around her, forcing her emotions into a space so small she knew she would burst any moment. “I got a phone,” she said into her hands during dinner. Jesse was quite for a moment. “You … what?” She lifted her head from her hands and stood from her chair. Walking into the living room, she found her phone in her purse and returned to the table. “It’s a global phone,” she said, her voice trembling as she watched confusion sweep across Jesse’s face. “I got it before we came here because I was afraid of feeling cut off … or something. I was afraid you would see it in airport security, but you didn’t seem to notice with all my other crap I had to put through the scanners.” Jesse’s confused expression melted into disappointment. Naomi could see he was trying to control his emotions. He swept away the negative expression and looked up at her with a calm, sweet smile. “I’m so sorry for making you feel like you might be cut off,” he said, reaching for the phone. “You don’t have to apologize.” Breathing a sigh of relief, she sat in her chair and leaned back. “I need to tell my parents what’s going on. Everyone’s going to think I’ve been kidnapped again, and I can’t deal with that. I have to tell them.” Jesse nodded, his face still calm. “I think we should block certain numbers,” he said. “Namely, your mother’s … until you’re ready to deal with this. She’ll be alright until then.” Naomi watched him take the phone and then navigate through some screens. A crease formed between his eyes. “Finn is texting you?” he asked, lowering the phone. “Y-yes.” She didn’t like the way he looked at her all of a sudden—that steely glaze over his eyes. He wouldn’t make her block Finn. He wouldn’t. Shakily, she said, “He’s concerned, that’s all.” He softened his expression, gazing at her with what almost looked like pity. “I think you might be able to handle things easier if you don’t talk to him for awhile.” She reached for the phone. “I’m not talking to him. I haven’t even texted him back. I haven’t talked to anyone.” “Naomi,” Jesse said firmly, “don’t lie, please. There’s a text here to your mother. I asked you not to talk to her.” Folding her arms, she grunted. “Telling her I’m fine is hardly talking to her. And that’s all I’ve texted.” She glared at Jesse as he stood and walked into the living room. He was doing something to her phone—punching buttons, scrolling through screens. “What are you doing?” she demanded, standing up from her chair. She put her hands on her hips. “I’m making things easier for you.” His back was to her, and suddenly she hated the way he hunched his shoulders forward, the way his muscles in his forearms slid under his skin as he moved his fingers wildly across the phone. She wasn’t sure what to do or say. He had never acted so rashly before—at least not toward her—not since that night he rushed her out of the house to help her escape. She hadn’t wanted to leave, she remembered. There had been a gaping hole in her chest as she had walked away, but Jesse had kept pulling on her, and then when he drove her to the police station and ordered her out of the car, she had thought her shattered heart would never heal. And it hadn’t. Not yet.

A bit more about the first book,

THE BREAKAWAY - Rhemalda Publishing / May 1st, 2012

*** When Naomi Jensen is kidnapped, it takes her parents two days to realize she’s missing. Escape isn’t high on her list of priorities when all she has to return to is an abusive boyfriend and parents who never paid much attention to her. For the first time in her life she’s part of a family—even if it is a family of criminals. But she’s still a captive. In a desperate attempt to regain some control in her life, Naomi embarks on a dangerous plan to make one of her kidnappers think she’s falling in love with him. The plan works too well, and when faced with the chance to escape, Naomi isn’t sure she wants to take it. ***

-Review- On Dublin Street by Samantha Young

Goodreads Shortie:
Jocelyn Butler has been hiding from her past for years. But all her secrets are about to be laid bare…

My thoughts?

Oh wow...
It's been months... literally since I read this book...
I kept struggling with this review... Came up empty when I wanted to put into words what I really thought about it...

I mean. It's not everyday that a book moves you when you haven't gone through the situation it describes and still... Argh...

To author Samantha Young, I swear I've tried.... I've sat on my bed countless nights trying to do your book justice but it just wouldn't come...

But now I'm determined to simply say...

It was amazing and loving and so very well written!

I instantly connected to the main character, Jocelyn, who wouldn't like her? She felt so real, so very centered and down to earth. I didn't have any problem believing this could be a friend of mine.

A lot of books have that problem, they write contemporary but they describe things & settings that wouldn't exist in real life, and this... This didn't do that.

Oh and please please... Braden... Can I melt now?
Some would think the 'understanding' between Braden and Jocelyn is trivial and too known already... But I'm so happy to inform you you're so wrong, so very very wrong. I dare you to enjoy a day and lose yourself in this book!

The story flows perfectly... It simply does. I loved a certain sister... She's like... A BFF's seeker wet dream or something.

I don't have any complaints about the love scenes either... They had just enough steam to leave you begging for a bit more...

I'm trying desperately to come up with new ways to tell you how good this book was! How good it is!!
How I really hope you'll pick it up the minute you lay eyes on it!
Be it on a bookstore -lucky you if you get the physical copy on your region- or on an online site where you shop for eBooks...

Thanks for being awesome enough to share your writing with us Samantha!!!

I want Braden to talk to me in that language of his and with that accent X_X

I give this book
5 = Clouds In The Heavens READ IT!

Hotness Rating:
8 = Fire!

I'm sorry... I really couldn't decide which passage to share :(
There were just TOO many so... I refrained from sharing this one time :/

Leah Clifford currently lives in Ohio, but frequently dreams of finding an abandoned mansion in the south that she can restore. In her spare time she loves to travel and has been known to drive over two hours to get kickass quesadillas. So far for jobs she's sold corn at a roadside stand, been a pizza delivery girl, a camp counselor, an extreme cave tour guide, a flight attendant, a waitress (x3), a grocery store clerk and a writer. Out of all of them, writing has been the most fun. She's pretty sure she's gonna stick with it.

Now let us read the EXCERPT!!

Flight by Alyssa Rose Ivy

We walked through the French Quarter slowly, and I tried to take it all in. The music, the crowds, and the atmosphere still felt surreal. Music spilled out of the endless bars and clubs.

“Wow, are those people seriously dressed up as vampires?” I asked, looking in at a dark bar on the corner. Inside I watched a man and woman holding up a chalice and smiling with fangs showing.

Levi laughed. “If you think those people are weird, you’d be freaked out by the real thing.”

“The real thing? Very funny.”

“What, you don’t think vampires are real?”

“No, and I’m glad they aren’t.”

“Why? Do they scare you?” Levi stopped walking, and turned me to look at him.

“Does the thought of blood sucking monsters scare me? Hell yes. Who wouldn’t be scared of that? ”

He laughed again even louder. “Trust me sweetheart, in New Orleans vampires are the least of your worries.”

“What do you mean?” Something about the glint in his eyes made me feel a little uneasy.

Levi’s face turned into a faint smile. “I’m really glad you asked that.”

“What are you talking about?”

“You’ll have to wait and see.”

“Okay, listen, scaring me isn’t a good way to get me interested, so if you have any weird tricks up your sleeve just shelve them.” I wondered if this was the time to tell him I avoided horror movies like the plague.

“No tricks, hon.” Levi pulled his phone out of his pocket and texted a few times.

I continued my people watching. I’d never seen so many middle-aged people laughing and partying before. It almost felt like the twilight zone.

Levi slipped his phone back in his pocket. “We’re meeting everyone over at Club 360.”

“What’s that?”

“The lounge on the top of the World Trade Center down by the river.”

“Okay, is it a cool view?”

“Yeah, it’s got a good view.” Levi laughed again and I had the distinct impression he was hiding something from me.

“You promise you aren’t luring me into some trap?”

“A trap? No. Let’s just call it a new experience.”

My stomach dropped. What the heck did I get myself into

There you go!! :D
