Bookography #13

Bookography is a post created by Kristina from Kristina's World of Books. Where you can combine both of my very favorite things in the world. Photography & Books ;) So grab a camera and do your thing. You don't have to be a professional or anything like that. Just share your love of books through a picture and that's it ;)
-She usually posts them on wednesdays~
So make sure you stop by her blog and share the love!

No introduction, though I've been thinking that I need to post more pictures than just the one I post while on Wednesdays-yeap I know today's friday hehe-I mean after all the blog IS called BookPICS<---
But the thing that's keeping me from doing that is the time it takes to somewhat mark the pictures or watercolor them :/ but there's just so much time I can spend doing sometimes I'll post pictures that say I took them and sometimes not... Now I just have to think of a post name or something to share more pictures with you guys >.<

Here's the pic for today though...
No quote, no editing...
Just look >.<

-review- Easy by Tammara Webber

I tried my best, beautiful people.
And I hope that I made a good-enough review.
Forgive me if I didn't.

My lips were sensitive and tingly. Touching them brought rushes of gooey memories-his hands, and what they'd done in concert with his mouth-the crazy-making kisses, and the few words he'd spoken.
You're so beautiful.

Note-This is a matureYA book.
I wish I could tell you exactly how this book will make you feel.
I wish I had words beautiful enough to describe it.
I wish I knew more english words than I know now to detail just how the writing of the story got to me.
I wish I could warn you of the many times my heart felt squeezed so tight I thought it might explode.
I wish I had written down all my favorite passages but that would mean writing down the whole book again.
I wish I could sit here and pretend to be able to sell you the book I think every single person out there needs to have.
I wish upon the stars that I could be wherever Tammara Webber is and be able to thank her personally for writing this book.
I wish all of you could have watched my expressions for the whole time it took me to read this book.
But besides wishing...
I hope
I hope that all of whom read this book gets if just a little, touched and encouraged to buy and read it.
I hope you can get to love it.
I hope you can get to connect in ANY way.
I hope you smile.
I hope you speak up.
I hope you tear up.
I hope... I hope... I hope...

"I want to see your tattoos."

When I opened the eBook on my kindle for PC... I didn't expect that this book would instantly make it to my 2012 favorite reads. But not only did it made it to the 2012Fave list it's now on my favorite reads EVER.
Jacqueline-I refuse to call her the other name-is an incredible character, scratch that, it's an AMAZING and the perfect main character for 'Easy', I cannot believe how a relate-able character she was during my reading, whether you relate to her case with -Buck- or her relationship with her family or her relationship with Erin or Maggie or her relationship with -K- or her relationship with 'L1' or 'L2' there are lots of moments, lots of times, lots of scenes where any girl can relate to her... I love her, I simply simply love her. And most of all, she was real. I could always picture her. Tammara's writing made me live each and every single second of the book as if I was the main character and not her.
I got to hate the people Jacqueline hated, I got to fall in love with the man she falls in love with, I got to have 2 amazing best friends, I got to experience horrific moments but also moments so sweet and intense that I had to take little breaks in order to get my breathing return to normal and reduce the flush on my cheeks, I got to fight with her, I got to laugh out loud and receive weary looks from my family because of it, I got to attend parties-something I'm not really inclined to while IRL- I got to be playful, to learn a few self-defense kicks... Oh my cloud! I got to do EVERYTHING she did.
And that wouldn't have been possible if not for Tammara's incredible-amazing-beautiful-genius writing.

"Well, hacking up a lung out in public isn't all that attractive-just sayin'."

While, as I said before, I wish a lot of things-one of them being able to write a good enough review, a review that could give you even a hint as to what this book is about-I simply cannot make myself describe it nor resume it.
Diving into this story head first with little idea as to what it's about is one of the best things that could have happened to me.

So, I plead to you. Please read this book.
Because I can assure you won't regret it and you will be going back to read it all over again once you finish it.

And afterwards... you WILL see...
*That you HAVE to speak up. NEED to speak up.
*That you're not alone-never, I will never get tired of saying this,
*That it's amazing when you find out how strong we women can be.
*That you CAN and WILL get over it.
*That time passes and the past passes...
*That it's NOT your fault.
-And because I'm a hopeless romantic I couldn't miss telling you...
*That love can heal even the most horrible wounds. It might leave scars but those are way better than an open bleeding wound.

"What kind of university employee would I be, to encourage you to skip class the last week of the semester?"

As is expected of Tammara, the 2 weaknesses I have were completely exploited in this book. The cover goes AMAZINGLY well with the story & with both main characters :D And...
The TITTLE! Oh my clouds!!!! The tittle is PERFECT it's such a contradiction yet so fitting for the story I'm not going to even PRETEND to explain it, I'll let the book do that for you. Though beware because it's IN the book as much as it is ON it.

I give this book
10special-fotitos(special rating for over-the-top-I'll-never-get-over-this book) =
I cried for things I didn't know possible I was capable of.

Cover Obsession #4

Cover Obsession is a feature here on BookPics.
-I really don't know if anyone else does it as I do but I'm not trying to steal any other ideas out there-
In which I tell you what new book covers I'm completely in love with, pinning for, drooling over, tearing-up over, going all OH CLOUD! on and all the other AMAZING-FANTASTIC-AWESOME-BOOKPIC-LY verbs and adjectives and adverbs you can think of that just simply aren't enough to describe how I feel towards said covers so,
I just go ahead and OBSESS over them :D

I think I see a trend or two in here... but just to be sure.
Take a look.

Units by Lea Williamson.
I can't remember who exactly recommended this to me, I just know I receivd an email with a recommendation from a goodreads friend. The rest is history.

Night Beach by Kirsty Eagar
Lindsey Lost by Suzanne Marie Philips

See what I see?
Similarities, trends, alike-ness?
That's what I'm obsessing over!
It seems that white, light blue, grey, and soft colors are on demand right now.
How can someone NOT obsess when presented with all these gorgeous covers?!

Now, check the next 2 covers.
I sense another trend in the horizon.

The Lost Girl by Sangu Mandanna
I'm obsessing over the effect.
Faceless, check.
Long hair, check.
Creepy, check.
While others might have found it confusing or not likable. Me?
I'm sold! I'd buy this book by the cover alone!!
And that line at the top?
C'mon, obsess along with moi.

Disharmony by Leah Giarratano -The Telling #1
Obsessing...yet again...
Faceless, check.
Long hair, check.
Darkness...oh the darkness. How a dangerous but irresistible thing. Right?

Dearly Beloved by Lia Habel -Gone With the Respiration #2-
I really liked the cover for book 1 but this one?
I'm obsessing over dark and necklace and her looking downwards.

Center page... because it's just SOOOO obsess-worthy

Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor -Daughter of Smoke & Bone #1-
I don't think I need to tell you the reasons of my obsession now...
This is undescribably amazing and awesome and gorgeous and beautiful but mysterious and promising and cryptic... I can already tell this book will-hopefully-rock my socks :D

Any book covers you're currently OBSESSING over?

My Reading Pile #14

My Reading Pile #14

My reading pile is an idea created by Fiktshun in which you share what your reads for the week are or well the wishful reads-rereads-rerereads and well you get the hint. Check her blog out, I've self-declared myself her #1 Stalker/Follower.

MRP progress & status:
-I think I'm sick.
That HAS to be it. How can someone not finish a book in a month?
It's not that I don't have the time... And I'm DYING to read... But maybe I'm getting TOO distracted these days.
I feel like blaming my blogoversary :D Because I was so excited posting and scheduling posts and interviewing and all for all the celebration and the 2 weeks that it lasted that I got easily easily distracted.
Maybe NOW I'll finally be able to FINISH~please please please I want to finish and move on to new books~the books on my reading pile :D

I did manage to start and finish a book I got in the mail. Then again it was from one of my favorite authors and one I had been waiting to read for a while!
You'll see which book tomorrow on STS.

Netgalley Pile Adds:

-I threw my NG ban over the window(I live in a one-story house, don't know if it served it's purpose but still...) Threw it over the window and requested, as I told you last week, a tittle...
-If you want to know what happened next, be warned, there's a lot of yelling involved-

Please, insert me screaming like a lost-alone-in-the-woods woman.
OH MY CLOUDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HEAVENS!!!!!!!!!!!
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!
I got approved!
I can now...access the tittle on my home page on NG...
Demon Eyes by Scott Tracey... YOU are MINE ~huggles eGalley~

This Week I'll Be Reading:
-I'm so behind I won't be adding any printed book on my reading pile this week... That means I haven't finished 'Die For Me' nor 'Fifty Shades of Grey' nor 'Lockdown' and I have just started 'Dark Awakening' and so far so good...
A certain eBook did happen to release last week and I couldn't, even if I wanted to, contain myself...I HAD to get it somehow... So I went on a little mission and 'borrowed' my younger sister D/Card and bought it >.<
It's the book from one of my ALL-TIME favorite self-published authors out there :D

Easy by Tammara Webber
-Gasps- I stalk this author nonstop, I don't know how she has handled it for so long and she has no one to blame but Fiktshun! Since she read and reviewed her first 'Between The Lines' book, Tammara was doomed with a lifetime of Alba-Stalking.
Sorry Tammara :D
-Note: This book is for a matureYA audience but it's still YA-

-BookPics is Curious- Shelves&Blog Button

~BookPics is Curious~

Forgive me?
Oh Clouds! : /
I think these last few weeks have been full of apologies here on the blog.
But I had promised on the last post to make a quick vlog for the ending of the blogoversary celebration.
And I couldn't do it, thanks to my stubbornness, I decided to quickly<- Notice that I said QUICKLY <- change shelves, and took all my books to the built-in one that's in the house dinning room... let me tell you... I started at 4:30pm and ended at 11:30pm WHERE is the QUICK in THAT?

And instead of going through everything I did to actually make the shelf change and make yo as tired as I ended up. I'll post some pictures so you can get the idea :D

In Between

All MINE >.<

You can see now that the vlog was a no-go because I was dirty, tired, sleepy, breathless, and everyone at home was asleep and I CANNOT for the love of  all that's holly up on the clouds, be quiet and whispery when talking about books...
Could you even IMAGINE if I did the vlog about the celebration? I think I would have easily learnt how someone feels when one is kicked out of a house :D
Let me explain myself.

But tomorrow is Stacking The Shelves day!!
And I want WANT to do a vlog, because the books I got were AMAZING and I even went off my reading pile to get one of those books read.

So, tomorrow's vlog will have both, me gushing about how lucky I was to have such amazing guests in the 2 weeks that we celebrated the blog's first year & about the books that I got.

On to another curiosity.

Did You See?

Now that I finished, yet another set of apologies and promises T_T
-I think I have issues with compromises-
I'm happy to announce.
BookPics now has...
Blog Button!!!
Thanks to Rose from Rose's Book Corner, for linking me to a site with a tutorial for this.
Sadly I couldn't work out the instructions or I don't know... but thanks to that site I knew how to search on google afterwards.

I played and played some more with the avis and extras that PJ's template includes.
And I know it doesn't look as if it was done by someone who knew what she was doing...
But I think it looks HAPPY and CUTE >.<
And has bookpics and books in it.
As well as...
My expression!!
Don't know what I'm talking about?
Take a look->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Oh my clouds! You guys!!
I feel all official and fancy now >.<
I'm so freaking happy you have NO idea!
And over something that to others might not mean the same... I'm just THAT sappy >.<
I might be doing a smaller version with, maybe a different avi and some sort of same colors >.<

What do you think?
I'm as happy as one can get right now >.<
Are you going to be grabbing the blog button?
What about you, my precious BookPic-ERS??

Is there something you're curious about?

While going through the giveaways entries and stuff I noticed that a lot of you said that the thing you love most about my blog are my VLOGS! bwahahaha ~blush~ I don't know what's going on with that... O_O Am I really THAT creepy? or I don't know... Clumsy? hehehe ~JK~ Thanks for watching them though :D
I thought and after a 3-seconds deliberation I decided; I'll be doing a wrap up vlog and will be posting it tomorrow morning BEFORE my MRP post. Hope you drop by then.

Now on to what you're here for!!

I'm sorry I didn't do this earlier.

The Really Sad and Maddening Side

Blogoversary Question-Attack With Rachel @Fiktshun

Insert me having a complete freak out. Melt down. Anything 'down'.
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
~freaks out some more~
I cannot believe it!!!
It has finally happened.

I gave in and stalked even more than my stalking persona would have thought I was capable of stalking and interviewed, well it was actually more of a question attack, my favorite blogger in history.

Really, if you don't believe me you just have to ask her and that's it...I don't know how she hasn't ran away crying out for help-not that it'd help her much, I'd still stalk her blogs-hehe but anyway, it's Rachel from Fiktshun, Fiktshun Ramblings, My Reading Pile and Fiktshun After Dark...see??? I have plenty of material to stalk hehehe.

She has been amazing to me.
Since day one.

I have no complaints no bad comments not anything she's really the blogger I look up to. So of course I was all jitters and stuff when I finally gathered the courage to ask her for the interview XD

Suffice it to say, at the end I thought I had pretty much rocked her world and everything will all these questions but of course, she had different plans because when she sent the answers she had the last word...I was TERRIFIED of the parting line of that email.
But here she is, being her awesome almost-robin hood- persona.

Please bear with me, this is the last post of the blogoversary celebration. Tomorrow's the wrap up. And I couldn't think of any other better way to end this party than with her... Have fun!!!

1. We can't start without trying to know a bit about yourself. So, can you tell us a bit about you?
Do we have to? I hate talking about myself. Hey, that tells you something about me, right? That’s enough!

Oh, okay. Let’s see. I’m a full-grown adult person, though I’m not always sure that’s the case mentally…. I have a very real and demanding job – gotta pay for those books somehow – but no kiddies. Not sure I’m mature enough to raise little people.

If I could be an eternal student, I would. I love learning things. Just always hated the structure of school and those core requirements. But I loved being in school, although I was never the most popular girl. But then again I never wanted to be. I don’t like the spotlight. Never have.

Alba: ~uh oh, don't like the spotlight? I think I did something wrong here already D= ~
Right or wrong I’ve always tended to do my own thing. I don’t really like following the crowd. Crowds make me nervous. Which is why my blog is the way it is and will probably always be a mid-tier blog on the verge of total anonymity.

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. When I was a child it was a writer, but now I haven’t the first clue. And yes, I’ve been officially considered a grown up for a long time so that doesn’t bode well for me.

I met the love of my life when I was a teenager and while it was no fairytale story, he’s my very best friend and someone I could not spend a second on this earth without.

Alba: ~awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww my helpless romantic persona showing~

As far as reading, I love all kinds of books, but fiction will always be my true love. And while I am testing the waters of non-YA paranormal/UF, I am still madly, passionately in love with all things YA. Which is kind of surprising because typically after a few years I like to switch genres.

I hope that’s more than enough and not TMI….

Alba: ~Nope, not TMI at all~

2. What do you think are your strongest and weakest points at being a blogger?
Weak points are way too many to list here without putting people to sleep before they get to the rest of the one million questions you asked!

~¬¬ no comments, well one comment, there aren't that many. Right?~
But I would say overextending myself – too many blogs. Inconsistency – no real set days for my posts. Unpreparedness – no posts saved for a rainy day. Unresponsiveness – I have gotten terrible at responding to email.

Strengths? Hmmm. Honesty - my thoughts and posts and reviews are my own and I don’t promote anything I don’t believe in or don’t think I’ll love. Hard-working – I work hard at doing what I do. I have no magical skills that make my posts write themselves, no special talent to market my blogs or format my posts. I have no more time than anyone else to do it. I work a full-time job, I have a life outside of blogging and believe it or not I require sleep like everyone else does.

I think that’s about it.

3. What was your favorite book as a kid?
What age are we talking? I loved the Beatrix Potter books when I was young-young. And for years I loved The Complete Grimm’s Fairy Tales. But if we’re talking pre-teen through teen, I’d have to say Dune by Frank Herbert. Of course then I discovered Stephen King….

4. What's your favorite genre to read, why?
Well these days it’s YA. Sub-genre in YA would be paranormal/urban fantasy. Why? Because it’s awesome. Enough said. Just kidding… sort of.

I have always loved stories that had adventure and that were a little bit magical. I love getting transported into a different world, with characters who are battling evil, falling in love and taking all sorts of risks. The addition of the paranormal element makes it that more fantastical and therefore that much more exciting for me. I don’t read to dive into reality, I have enough of that every day.

5. Tell us your top 5 -I know this is a hard one so you can always add extras- authors and which book of theirs you like the most?
It’s not too hard since you didn’t say top five YA authors.

1. Stephen King. The Dark Tower series.

2. Richard Bachman. The Long Walk. (No, that’s not cheating!)

3. Janet Fitch. Paint it Black.

4. The Brothers Grimm. All their fairy tales.

5. John Steinbeck. East of Eden.

But if I had to pick top five YA, it would have to be authors I’ve read at least three books from.… though there’s one author I can’t list though I really, really want to….

1. Cassandra Clare. The Mortal Instruments series.

2. Holly Black. The Curseworkers series.

3. Rachel Vincent. The Soul Screamers series.

4. Lauren Oliver. Before I Fall.

5. Maggie Stiefvater. The Wolves of Mercy Falls series.

6. What's your favorite quote?
Well, I can’t reveal my favorite quote here since it’s not appropriate for all ages, but, hmmm…. And I have a million that always make me want to cry. But I’ll stick with one that stands for what I truly believe.

Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” Oscar Wilde.

7. What was your favorite past time as a kid, is it the same now? ~LOL~
Well, I always loved reading when I was a child. Always. And I always loved going to the movies. Still do, though not as much. But I used to just like playing outside. Running around the neighborhood, building forts, snowball fights, playing tag, doing cartwheels until I got too dizzy to stand, flying kites, playing pretend, lying in the grass just watching the sky. I don’t get to play outside much anymore since I live in cities and I have no yard and I’m not a child.

8.If the Earth suddenly became uninhabitable, would you rather live under the sea or in space?
Under the sea. I love the water. I used to pretend that I lived underwater when I was little. I’d stay in the pool or in the ocean for hours and hours. I loved the quiet. Space scares the heck out of me. So cold. So distant. So remote.

9. Any pet peeves you'd be willing to share with us?
Post-its. They drive me insane. They’re supposed to be these little sticky helpful reminders, instead they end up being clutter with random notes that I have no memory of writing.

And certain food peeves – I’ll only name two. I can’t watch, or listen to, someone drinking soup. Using a spoon, totally fine. Slurping, totally fine. Gulping it from a cup skeeves me out to no end. *Shudders.*

Someone eating yogurt (not the frozen kind)… and talking. That gloopy-gloppy noise affects the way they speak. So, icky. And if there’s a visual, ewwwww.

10. If you could live in any period of time other than the present, which would it be & why?
1950s. I love mid-century everything. I’m sure I’d hate it if I actually lived back then, but I totally want to experience growing up in the 1950s and early 60s. I always was obsessed with that period of time when I was little and always felt I was born in the wrong decade.

11. Favorite Music?
Shoot. This is tough. You are asking some seriously HARD questions. I am super particular about my music, but I like tons. And I don’t think the labels are accurate these days so I don’t like specifying a certain “type.” But bands/artists? A few I am listening to these days are T.S.O.L., the Subhumans, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, the Eagles, Green Day, Muse, Florence + The Machine, Weezer, Blink-182, David Bowie, Iron & Wine. Yep, all over the map.

12. What's the funniest thing a follower has ever asked you? ~LOL~
Funny ha ha or funny weird? I don’t know if anyone asked me anything ha ha funny. I get a few weird questions, mostly by email or when I was on Formspring – like, “How many tattoos do you have?”...Um, who said I had any? And what does that have to do with my blogging? But, although I do get a bunch of questions, I don’t really get a lot of questions about me. Which I’m glad about.

13. Any secret obsession that you'd like to convert to non-secret?
I don’t really have any secret obsessions. All of my obsessions are fairly obvious, right? I overdo everything. So, yeah, I am obsessive about practically everything I do. But maybe everyone online doesn’t know that I’m obsessed with the idea of having a place for everything and having everything in its place. A chaotic environment drives me crazy. And so of course post-its are the bane of my existence. Yet I use them all the time, LOL.

14. If you could be any female character of any book, which one would it be and why?
I don’t want to be any female character in the books I read. They all have terrible, terrible things happen to them. If I had to be like a character in one of the books I read it would have to be Kaylee Cavanaugh from Rachel Vincent’s Soul Screamers series. She’s brave, selfless, intelligent and a little bit reckless. But I’d never want to be her, what with the thing that happened at the end of If I Die and the whole Nash business. And of course being a banshee doesn’t sound like too much fun. Oh and the swirly eyes that reveal her emotions. Nope, would not want that.
Alba: ~This question was one of my favorites but I knew she'd answer with something that I didn't expect~

15. What's your current read & what's next on the pile for you? :)
By the time this posts I’ll have finished reading both of these, but currently I’m reading Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. My next read is Insurgent by Veronica Roth.

Now with the quicker than quickest ones hehe <--- Does that even make sense?

-Ocean or Forest
Ocean. Hands down. Love the forest, but nothing beats looking out over an endless sea.

-Tea or Coffee
Coffee. I really, really want to be a tea girl but I always choose coffee.

-Sweet or Salty
Salty. But when the two are mixed – ahhhh, Nirvana.

-Original or Remake
Oh that’s tough! My initial response was Original. But every once in a while a remake is good…. Just can’t remember one of those offhand.

-Drama or Comedy
Drama. Oh I love to laugh, but I’m so particular. Unless it’s my kind of comedy I’m bored to tears.

- Summer, Spring, Autumn or Winter
Why did you have to ask this, LOL? I love all the seasons for so many reasons. But I guess it would have to be spring for the same clichéd reasons everyone loves it – it’s a time of rebirth, blah, blah, blah. But I actually think I really love it most because I still get that feeling of excitement as I did knowing that school would be ending soon even though I’m not in school anymore and haven’t been for a while.

-Skittles or M&M's
Seriously? You’re evil! Um, I guess now it would be Skittles. If you asked me a few months ago it would probably have been peanut M&M’s. But right now that rainbow candy sounds super yummy. May have to head out and grab some…. See ya!

-Read With music or Without
Without. Even if there was music on it would be kind of pointless. Well, at least if the story was good. I get so caught up in the world that everything tunes out, so it would be like I didn’t have anything on in the background even if I did.

-Early Riser or Night Owl
Night Owl. I am both, in the sense that I stay up late and get up early, but I love the night.

-Describe yourself in 3 words!
(Grrr, Alba. Again? Really, you know how I am about being sparse with my words….)

Intense. Quirky. Private.

OMG! I rock! See how many times she had a hard time answering? hehehe I call that a job well done ;)
And yeap, you see now? She rocks! And she's too good even for her own good XD
I love her to the death!!

Bookography #12

Bookography is a post created by Kristina from Kristina's World of Books. Where you can combine both of my very favorite things in the world. Photography & Books ;) So grab a camera and do your thing. You don't have to be a professional or anything like that. Just share your love of books through a picture and that's it ;)
-She usually posts them on wednesdays~
So make sure you stop by her blog and share the love!

Today's Picture

-I saw the world in shades of red and black, and quickly found myself praying for night again. At least you can hide in the dark.-
Lockdown by Alexander Gordon Smith

Guys... this book...
This book is...
Is just...
Don't read it alone in your living room, that has an entire glass wall looking to the front shard without any type of curtains or blinds, at 1:am while your dogs are howling like someone just died...

And the picture. I was playing with the flash of my camera and this is one of the results of being curious hehe I simply put my finger on the flash-not a good idea since it hurt-and took the picture making it come out red.
Then I simply edited a bit of the color added some contrast and a little shine and there you have it.
Creepy, dark, red, just as Furnace, picture.

-Blogoversary- Quick Question Attack with Author Daisy Whitney

Another day, another guest!
Today we have the AMAZING author of the AMAZING book The Mockingbirds which I've already read and reviewed HERE.
Daisy Whitney
I met Daisy over a year ago and I couldn't believe how approachable she was and still is! She's really awesome and takes the time to check all the comment/stalkings I make on her page hehehe. So when I suddenly out of nowhere asked her if she could do this she said YES! Can you believe it? I was over the moon!!! Thanks to her I won one of my very first SIGNED books by an author whose books I AM COMPLETELY ADDICTED TO, Gayle Forman author of 'If I Stay' and 'Where She Went'.
Well on to what you're here for.
I did a 5-quick-question-attack to Daisy and here are her answers.

1. Hi Daisy!! Thanks for letting me interview you on such a short
notice! And Welcome to BookPics! (When I send the questions to her I was reading -> The Mockingbirds) and loving each bit of it
and I was you have any books coming out soon? If so,
can you share a bit about it/them
or is it still TOP SECRET?
I'm glad you're liking THE MOCKINGBIRDS! The sequel, THE RIVALS,
released earlier this year, and my next young adult is a standalone
called WHEN YOU WERE HERE. That comes out from Little Brown in Spring
2013 and it's about a teenage boy who travels to Tokyo to uncover the
secrets surrounding the death of his mother all while trying to hold
onto and let go of the girl he's been in love with his whole life.
It's about big loss and big love. I'm also working with Bloomsbury on
contemporary fantasy and my first YA fantasy will release in Fall
2013. It's called STARRY NIGHTS, it's set in Paris and it's a cross
between Night at the Museum and Shakespeare in Love.

2. Are you currently reading something, what is it about? Would you
recommend it?
I just finished Kendare Blake's ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD and it was an
awesome, badass book that I would recommend to anyone. I loved it!

3. Tell us your favorite quote! Why is it your favorite?
My favorite quote is from the song La Vie Boheme in Rent when Mark
sings "To riding your bike mid-day past the three-piece suits." To me,
that sentiment is why I work the way I work - running my own business,
working from home, writing novels - so I can have the freedom to walk
my dog in the middle of the day, to take an afternoon off and play
with kids, to live my life the way I want. That, and I plan to never
own a suit.

4. What's the funniest thing a reader or blogger has ever asked you?
What kind of snack food I would be.

5. Finally! Describe yourself in 3 words!
Happy. Precise. Sparkly.

Thank you so much Daisy!! That was fun!!
I can't wait to read The Rivals and 'When You Were Here' hehehehehe and you definitely ARE sparkly!
T_T But...really thank you, I mean it <333

Blogoversary Question-Attack- With Kristina @Kristina's World of Books

Another day of celebrating.
And...well I think you know by now how I love making the same questions to different people...this is no exception.
I'm a stalker of the person whose interview you're about to read...but mostly...I'm a stalker of her photographs.
I participate on her meme -Bookography-
When I first started the blog I did a feature that was called BookPic of the week, in which I shared any of the pictures I took and related it or quoted it with some of my favorite books...but then I found Kristina's feature :D and well...decided to support her and stopped doing mine :D someday along the way...I'll start a feature of my own...but for now I leave you with;
Kristina from Kristina's World of Books

1. Can you tell us a bit about you?-Besides being amazing at taking pictures?!-
Well like most bloggers I have a bit of a book addiction that is getting out of control and I love it! I one day want to have a huge library filled with floor to ceiling books, but for that to happen I need a new house, so this goals is in the making. I also LOVE to attending book signings, I have even gotten books to attend the signing and eventually read the book, a little backwards I know, but I couldn't miss the opportunity to meet more authors. I live in the wonderful rainy Washington state, no, there are no sparkly vampires (that I know of), but I do like to tease my husband and tell him I see the sparkles on his skin since he is weird and hate bright sunny days. I'm currently practicing improving my photography as a hobby/photo enthusiast, I haven't decided it I want to make a career out of it or not. A few personal tidbits, I am married have been for almost 3 years now, but we have been together for 7. We got married in soccer shoes with soccer balls lining the aisle. We meet playing soccer so it was only fair that soccer should be a part of our wedding. We have a dog named Roxy, she is a red and white Pembroke Welsh Corgi. I have 2 younger sisters named Daniela and Audriana, a real mouth full our names are when strung together, we are sometimes called the A sisters since our name end with a. I enjoy it when books, movies or shows have 3 sisters as the main characters, the power of sisterhood!

2. What do you think are your strongest and weakest points at being a blogger?
Strongest: Trying not to let blogging stress me out and take over my life.

Weakest: I'm not big on being on all the social sites all the time. I would like to promote a FB page, be on twitter more but I don't want it to take away from my life or reading.

3. What was your favorite book as a kid?
I actually wasn't a big reader when I was a kid, the books I remember the most were Santa Paws, a Unicorn parallel universe book (can't remember the title) and a Nancy Drew book the Mysterious Ranch one

4. What's your favorite genre to read, why?
All things fantasy. I like to say, "I live in the real world, why would I want to read about it!" Occasionally I'll read a YA contemporary, but not often. Put a little fantasy twist in my books and I'm a happy camper. I love everything from adult UF, PR, Sci-fi Fantasy to YA. I do like to mix my adult and YA reads, since I'm not a teen anymore I do like to be able to connect with my characters and the adult genre has better kick ass female characters.

5. Tell us your top 5 -I know this is a hard one so you can always add extras- authors and which book of theirs you like the most?
I'll break this up with my favorite adult and YA books
Kushiel's Legacy trilogies by Jacqueline Carey (high fantasy) I own everything by Carey and she has her own shelf and it is all signed by her as well.
Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs (UF) all of these are signed as well
Everything by Kendra Leigh Castle (PR) She has a finished trilogy, a single novel and a current series she is working on now
Goddess Summoning series by PC Cast (PR) my favorites in this series are Goddess of Spring, Rose and Legend, but I do like them all
Kate Daniels and the Edge Series by Ilona Andrews books as well, another awesome series with a kick ass female characters

YA now this one is really hard, there are so many different YA books that I love
Wondrous Strange Trilogy by Lesley Livingston
Violet Eyes and Silver Eyes by Nicole Luiken
Starcrossed Trilogy by Josephine Angelini (can't wait for the final book)
Die For Me Trilogy by Amy Plum (another can't wait for the final book)
Fateful by Claudia Grey
Cinder by Marissa Meyer
I hate picking my favorites for the YA genre, it is so hard and there are so many AMAZING books being published every month.

6. What's your favorite quote?
I don't have a favorite book quote, but I do have a favorite poem quote "I love you not only for who you are but for what I am when I am with you" by Elizabeth Barrett Browning

7. What was your favorite past time as a kid, is it the same now? ~LOL~
Playing in the woods with sisters, friends, cousins

8. If the Earth suddenly became uninhabitable, would you rather live under the sea or in space?
Neither sounds fun. I'm not a swimmer nor do I like the thought of being in an enclosed space

9. Any pet peeves you'd be willing to share with us?
Non book related, I hate when people call me a masseuse, I have paid a lot of money in schooling and licensing to have the title licensed massage practitioner but for short call us massage therapists. Masseuse is so dirty sounding and can be associated with providing "extra" or "special" massage. NO THANK YOU! Oh yeah I work as a massage therapist and I have been in this field for 5 years. It is hard work and very physically demanding but I love helping people with their pains.

10. If you could live in any period of time other than the present, which would it be & why?
Ugh, Hollywood has beautified the past and polished the filth, grim and disease that was a huge problem. Also females have always been suppressed and that doesn't seem too appealing either. I have no idea what other time period I would live in.

11. Favorite Music?
I don't listen to a lot of music, whenever I'm in the car I'm listening to an audio book. Currently though I have been listening to a lot of Within Temptation, their music is amazing!

12. What's the funniest thing a follower has ever asked you? ~LOL~
I got nothing, lame I know :(

13. Any secret obsession that you'd like to convert to non-secret?
I have 2 extra copies hardback copies of Kushiel's Dart and 3 extra HB copies of Kushiel's Chosen. It took me over a year to find 2 sets of the 1st 2 books in the trilogy for my cousin and I in hardback, so now whenever I find them used I keep buying them. I had to walk away from a 4th copy of Chosen. I have no idea what I am going to do with them, I would like to give them away to someone I know who LOVES the series, but at the same time I don't want to part with them. For now I'm just hording and loving them, wow I feel like Golem "my preciouses"

14. If you could be any female character of any book, which one would it be and why?
Mercy Thompson hands down! She freaking rocks, she is who I always compare my female characters to her. I love that she it technically weaker then the werewolves she was raised with, but she hasn't let the stop her and she has learned how to fight and use her strengths to her benefit.

15. What's your current read & what's next on the pile for you? :)
Currently reading Night Veil by Yasmine Galenorn my next reads will be Immortal Rules, Under the Never Sky and Struck
Update: Currently Reading The Immortal Rules, TBR Pile: The Last Echo, Under the Never Sky and Struck
