-Book Blitz + Giveaway INT- The Voice by Jennifer Anne Davis

Hello beauties!!! :D
I'm here to give a big SHOUT OUT!! For the book
-> The Voice by Jennifer Anne Davi
-this is me shouting-

I'll let you read about the book and at the end we have a giveaway for you guys :D

The Voice by Jennifer Anne Davi
YA Contemporary novel
Publication date: January 29th, 2013
*** During her abduction and assault, Audrey begins to hear a voice. She hopes she’s not going crazy, because after what she’s experienced, that’s the most logical explanation. However, as she begins to listen to the voice, Audrey realizes that someone may be telepathically trying to help her.

Unfortunately, rescue isn’t all she needs. In order to leave behind the constant reminders, she flees to her Aunt Kate’s house in San Diego, and assumes a new identity. It works—until the eighteen-year-old twin boys who live next door threaten to break through the protective walls she’s worked so hard to build.

Between Caleb going out of his way to befriend her and Justin avoiding her at all costs, Audrey doesn’t know if normalcy will ever find her again. But one thing is certain: When a familiar danger resurfaces, it’s the same voice that she turns to—a voice that is not only real, but a lot closer than she realizes.

Gripping and tastefully told, The Voice is a story of healing, trust, and courage. ***

Now I have a mini-interview with the author I think you shall enjoy!! So... Here it goes!

Interview with Jennifer Anne Davis

*Every author has their story about their road to publication. How was your road?

Long! I wrote a book and tried to get it published with little success. At the time, I had no idea what I was doing or even what genre I was writing. Then I entered an essay contest and won! My essay was published in a book and this fueled my desire to keep on writing. I realized then that I love to read young adult novels and decided to write the book I wanted to read. I outlined THE VOICE, wrote it in four months, revised it for almost a year, then sent it out to agents and publishers. I had several people interested in the story. I ended up going with a small publishing house that specializes in YA books and I couldn’t be happier!

*How did you come up with the idea for THE VOICE?

I kept having a reoccurring dream involving a girl that was locked in a cabin. At first I planned to have her guardian angel rescue her but then I realized that there were too many stories involving angels at the time. I liked the idea of telepathy, so I just kept playing around with the story until I had something that worked.

*How does it feel like being a debut author?

It’s an odd mixture of pure joy and complete and utter fear. I am so excited that my dream of becoming a published author is here! When I saw the advanced reader copy of my book with my picture and name on it, I cried! It was so surreal. But the thought of people reading and judging my work is hard. I really hope people enjoy the story. I’m trying to grow thick skin because I know not everyone will love it, and that’s okay (at least that’s what I keep telling myself). I get butterflies in my stomach just thinking about its release day!!

About the Author

Dimitri Williams Photography
Source: Author's website
Jeanette Battista graduated with an English degree with a concentration in medieval literature which explains her possibly unhealthy fixation on edged weapons and cathedral architecture. She spent a summer in England and Scotland studying the historical King Arthur, which did nothing to curb her obsession. To satisfy her adrenaline cravings—since sword fighting is not widely accepted in these modern times—she rode a motorcycle at ridiculously high speeds, got some tattoos, and took kickboxing and boxing classes. She gave up the bike when her daughter came along, although she still gets pummeled at the gym on a regular basis.

When she’s not writing or working, Jeanette spends time with family, hikes, reads, makes decadent brownies, buys killer boots, and plays Pocket Frogs. She wishes there were more hours in the day so she could actually do more of these things. She lives with her daughter and their ancient, ill-tempered cat in North Carolina.

And now... For the ->

Please welcome author Jeanette Battista <--- I'm loving her last name ;)

*** I'll be honest--I wasn't planning to write a book like Leopard Moon. I had an entirely different story in my head at the time, but it just wasn't coming into clear focus. That's the funny way writing works though: there I am, sitting at a red light on my way to meet my friends for a birthday martini and pedicure, listening to Florence + the Machine and WHAM! The song Howl comes on and this whole lovely scene just starts unfolding in my head. There was Kess, running through the woods, ripping off of her clothes as she triggered a change into a black leopard. And there was Cormac, standing in a different part of the woods being beaten mercilessly by the villain. I didn't know Sek was going to turn out to be Kess' brother, but I did know who he was as a character and what he wanted.

It was truly a gift: the entire final fight scene just unspooled itself along with the song lyrics. Each beat of the song matched a key point in the fight. The more I listened, the more I realized that the lyrics could apply to all of the characters in the main triangle at some point in the story I suddenly wanted to tell. And I wanted that story to be more than just boy meeting girl--I wanted that story to be about girl saving boy, but more importantly about girl saving herself. The song Howl gave me Kess first and Sekhmet second, so a lot of what I tried to do with them was to show them as two halves of a whole, two sides of a coin. Howl, at least to me, wasn't a love song at all--it was a song about possession and obsession and all of those things that show up in our animal drives. that we'd like to forget exists.

So when I began to craft Kess and Sek, Howl played on a continuous loop. And though the song speaks of wolves, I knew these two had to be cats. Wolves have a more social nature and are more easily understood by us--I think it comes from them being a a precursor to our beloved dogs. Cats are an unknown quantity, strange and separate, even if they choose to share space with us. I wanted real darkness there, not just a brief bit of danger that would be easily resolved. Obsession and mental illness gave Sek that scariness, but also--I hope--a bit of sympathy. He really does love his sister and wants what is best for her and his clan. I never intended to excuse his behavior, but I did want to try and understand it.

Just like the song made me understand that narrator of that story. I can only hope I did half so well. ***

-Cover Reveal- Opposites by T.M. Smith

I'm so happy to be joining the massive cover reveal of this book!!!
So I won't ramble and make you wait.

About the book,

Tentative release date; March of 2013

Genre: Adult Dystopian

*** Calendar year 2081. Our planet has finally succumbed to Global Warming.

Dr. Anthony Smith, one of only a few thousand people to survive Global Warming Ignition, has come to the conclusion that the destruction of our planet and society had been due to Injudicious Breeding which lead (in his opinion) to over population, WAR, unnatural climate changes, lower intelligence, poor physical health, poverty, lust and greed. Having isolated the Dionysus gene, he decided to start society anew by manipulating Human DNA to ensure all their offspring would be born Gay/Lesbian. Thus creating a society where Gay/Lesbian is the norm... to be straight labels you an Opposite and makes you an Outkast.

~ Nature Versus Nurture ~

Some 200 years later Dr. Smith’s descendants have maintained control of the Government that rules society. House Gaeland rules their lands, as well as the other 6 countries that survived GWI. Twins, Aiya and Aiyan, are next in line to rule alongside their soon to be wife and husband. There is, however, a growing anomaly; one that threatens to unravel over 200 years of progress. This anomaly is known as Opposites.

Author Bio:

A military brat born and raised at Ft. Benning Georgia; Smith is an avid reader, reviewer and writer. She now calls Texas home from her small town on the outskirts of the DFW Metroplex. Most days you can find her curled up with her kindle and a good book alongside a glass of something aged and red or a steaming cup of coffee!

At 42 years young, she’s decided to enter the next phase of her life by adding the title of “author” to her list of accomplishments that includes single mom of three disturbingly outspoken and decidedly different kids, one of which is Autistic. Her two eldest kids and gay best friend were the inspiration for her upcoming new release, Opposites.

Stalk the author,

A personal note from author T.M. Smith

I can’t thank all my sister bloggers enough for supporting me by hosting this cover reveal event! I’ve made some wonderful and fascinating friends this past year while working on Opposites; bloggers, reviewers and authors that have made a huge impact on me. I wish I could list you all by name. I hope you all know how very much I appreciate the support.

I will say the three most important things in life are Faith, Family and Friends. I have the best of all three! I thank god everyday for my wonderfully dysfunctional family and close knit group of friends. To have family and friends that support you when you are right, wrong or indifferent is a gift!

So, what do you think?
I think it's a good cover-though the bird reminds me too much of Legend's sequel PRODIGY by Marie Lu- but what's really got me hooked is the book description!
That's what I call fresh, at least for me :D

Stacking The Shelves #17 -Dilemmas-

Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews. Where you can post all the books that you're adding to your shelves each week.
Inspired by TST IMMs' posts.

Here's what will be stacking my shelves this week

You know... There comes a time when you think the world is ending because something extraordinarily weird happened...

But then... there comes a time when you're 99.9% sure that the world has INDEED ended because what happened is most likely impossible -_-

Well my beautiful people... The latter is what I felt when I went to a local bookstore and saw... BOOKS actual YA books that while not new releases, you might as well treat them as that since they take MILLIONS of days to even bring one!! LET ALONE ALL THE ONES I SAW!!!! T____T

I wanted to take them all!! Because of course this miracle came with a catch... and that's... They ALWAYS ALWAYS bring so FEW!! As in one or at the most... 2 copies of each book which, if you ask me, is kind of ridiculous but whatever... I'm happy I found them first!!

And nope... There is NO vlog today because,
1. I'm still recovering from a very nasty cold... You really really don't want to know. Trust me.
2. Something really sad happened this week... And me being me I wouldn't have been able to leave it out of my ever-present ramblings on camera so... I would have either gotten too mad, too angry, too teary... Too -insert negative sentiment here along with a sad one...-

So I opted out-JUST THIS WEEK-in favor of pictures! Because you know I also love me my pictures from time to time :D

So here it goes!!! :D

-Angel's Blood by Nalini Singh [Guild Hunter #1]
-Archangel's Kiss by Nalini Singh [Guild Hunter #2]

-WHAT! Lol this weren't actually a new addition on the store... Only Archangel's kiss... And to be truthful... This are my sisters' but so far I've paid them so... It's got to count plus... She's only into this genre and... I like to spoil her whenever I can! Who has read these?? Recommend?-
Also... How do you even pronounce this author's name? -blush- I really don't know T_T

Next up...

-What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen

-I'm so sorry for the low quality of the pictures... I kind of was in a rush to show you guys :D Anyway, oh clouds! See??!!! I am SUCH a HUGE HUGE fan of Sarah Dessen's books and writing and everything so I couldn't just see it there and not buy it, right?
I still cannot CANNOT believe they had this book!! Even though it released like ages ago!! It really was on the -new additions- section... Which is kind of sad if you think about it BUT I sooo don't care... Look at my new pretty!! =huggles=

Next up...

-Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris
-Carnival of Souls by Melissa Marr

-WHAT!? WHAT?!!!!! REALLY!!!! I shall die a happy woman now!!! Unraveling!!! This is as close to a NEW RELEASE as this store will ever get!!! See the PRETTY!!!!!! ARGH!!!! I've read so many mixed things about this one... But... I read that one particular person liked it so I have a good feeling...

And... Melissa Marr!!!!! T_T I've only ever read Wicked Lovely... as in the first book of the series... But I FELL IN LOVE with the writing, the characters, setting!! Everything so I am really really looking forward to this one!!

Now... for Carnival of Souls I have a... confession...
1. It's the International Edition... You know how picky I am when it comes to my books... And I'm definitely NOT a fan of international editions... They don't have any bonus material and the covers almost always, NOT all the time, come kind of plain... either in shinny or mate effects and that's it... But I am so very glad it even made it here I won't complain now... Just putting it out here... (Sarah Dessen's book is also an international edition.) AND
2. AHHHHH As I said... they had a lot of new additions on the shelves... And I saw... DEFIANCE by  C.J. Redwine... It was soo hard to just pick one in between those 2... specially because I didn't own any... And I really wanted both of them... AND oh god... So I HAD to read the descriptions... And... this one won out... only by a thread... But now... I soo soooooooo need to go back to the store and bring with me the other pretty because, well... I just HAVE to! They only had one copy! ONE COPY! Which if you ask me is blasphemous but well... I can't do anything but cross my fingers and go back... -

There you go...

The pretties that'll be stacking MY shelves this week!!

-Reading Challenge- Don't Let It End Hosted by Fiktshun

I wish I didn't saw Rachel's post in which she wrote about thinking of this exact reading challenge...

But things, as they start, must end... And so, with great pain in my heart... But excited-ness as well -I'm such a weird and bipolar person!- I'm posting this to announce that, my heart will break this year, I will pretty much spend tons of hours crying on bed with a book clutched to me...

You see... The thing is, it won't be just any book... BUT
A LAST BOOK in a series!!

You know what that means?

It means I'll have to finish reading the Evernight series by Claudia Grey or the Hex, Hall one by R.Hawkins!! Or what about... A Touch Mortal trilogy by Leah awesomeness Clifford?? *_* Endlessly by Kiersten White!! T_______T oh bleep! T_T #myfeels will be all over the place!

I really don't know which books I'll be choosing to read... Not even sure if there will be bookS chosen... So far... the only last-in-a-series books that I own is Afterlife by Claudia Grey and Endlessly by K.White! So we'll see how it'll go with me!

But, after my long rambling in which I said pretty much, NOTHING.

I just wanted to share this awesome reading challenge with you!!

If you want to know more about it just go HERE or look for the button on the right sidebar of the blog :D

Which looks pretty much like the banner for the challenge :P But is THIS one :D

I cannot wait or wait! Maybe I CAN wait but don't want to continue putting this up for another time... I know it'll be hard to part with such AMAZING characters and stories... But I know there are even more stories out there waiting for me to devour them and fall completely in love with, just as I did with these ones!! :D

What about you?!
Brave enough to join??
What are you waiting for?!

Wait, if you are waiting I completely get it ^____^ hehe

-Blog Tour Stop Excerpt&Giveaway- Normalish by Margaret Lesh

Hello there!
The Normalish blog tour stops here today!!
I have an excerpt to share plus a giveaway so let's get the party started, shall we?

But first, lets read a bit about the book.

Normalish by Margaret Lesh
Release Date: October 5th 2012 / Musa Publishing Euterpe Young Adult imprint
Fifteen-year-old Stacy questions the strange world of high school, love, her role in a harsh universe, and life, in Normalish.

People tell you high school's so great and wonderful, but they're lying. It's mostly horrible and full of disappointment. It sucks. Your best friend abandons you. The jerk you're in love with pretends to be into you, and then the big dump. The boy you've really clicked with as a friend decides to go all crushy over you, so you break his heart just like yours was -- smashed into little pieces. Your sister goes mental, and you get involved with a guy who’s even crazier than she is (who you know is a very bad idea, but you do it anyway). Math only adds another stink of failure to the whole thing.

High school blows. Just ask freshman Stacy. She’d want you to know.

August 22 - So Who Am I Really? (In 250 Words Or Less)

Horrible high school has begun. It is horrible for many reasons—the reasons you’d usually suspect—and it is horrible on so many levels—the ones you’d also usually suspect—not to mention the fact that it starts in August. (But I won’t even go there.)

One horrible thing that was particularly awful and egregious happened the first week of school. In English, our teacher Mr. Selden (a nice-looking, older man—broad shoulders, deep brown eyes, nicely-shaped eyebrows—someone I could really sit back and daydream about) asked us to do a quick-write about our family, which, by itself, was not so bad. What was horrible was the fact that he read it out loud. For everyone to hear. If I’d known this in advance, I would have either:

 1. lied, saying I was raised by wolves, or

 2. made it much less entertaining so that my teacher wouldn’t have felt the compelling need to humiliate me in front of the class.

If I had known my life was going to be made public, I wouldn’t have written about my sister Jill being bossy and overbearing, or how she literally has a cow when I squeeze the toothpaste tube from the wrong end, or how she’s been known to smack me upside the head for using the wrong subject-verb agreement.

I also wouldn’t have written about how I went to Ms. Liz’s Modeling School or how she taught me to make the perfect gin & tonic—one part gin to three parts tonic over three ice cubes with a twist of lime. (Since we weren’t actual model material, I think knocking back a few during Runway Class was her own personal coping mechanism. Also, I’m beginning to wonder if she ever really was a model.)

I wouldn’t have written about being in the gifted program because—well, you know how that sounds. I mean, I don’t want to brag or anything. And I wouldn’t have written about math—how it doesn’t like me and I don’t like it—because that just made me sound like a loser.

Lastly, I wouldn’t have mentioned Becca being strange. I mean, people know her. If she ever found out about it, I could get seriously hurt.

-BookPics is Curious- A Book Depository Miracle?

Well well well!!

Would you look at that...
Last week a local friend came up with the idea of making a page to ask The Book Depository to ship to our country -El Salvador-

-The Story-
We've struggled so long to get books, I know we're not the only country that needs it but most of the friends I've made in the blogosphere and the bookish friends I've made in this awesome community were lucky enough to be on the 'countries we ship' list from theBookDepo...

I, for one, know that I drool at the sight of books, I cannot control myself when it comes to them...
So when I first found out about the famous BookDepo site I was thrilled! Ecstatic! I wanted to scream my lungs out that I'd finally found a place where I would be able to get, if not all, at least some of the books that I pin for on a daily basis...

Not long after I started blogging I 'met' some local bookish people and was excited to know that I had found people who loved books as much as I do...
We have stuck close since... Well whenever we wanted to participate in giveaways-we were new!! and we didn't know that people actually gave things away just because they were awesome!-we cried happy tears!! UNTIL. The -international as long as The Book Depository ships to you- thing came up...
We investigated, we did our work, and in the end we were left brokenhearted but still excited to just be IN this amazing community...

-What happened?-
Liss-or Lissette- from Passion and Life approached a couple of us last Thursday Jan 10th<- YES I'm SAVING that date! And told us to apply some kind of pressure on the bookdepo people so they would ship to us FINALLY she only suggested we stalk their facebook page nonstop until they gave in... But all of a sudden... She-I think-has a change of heart and makes THIS PAGE and adds me to it...
OOOOOH BABY!!! We went crazy!!! I suggested that page like a lunatic to MOST of my facebook friends... Then I spammed BookPics' facebook page as well and also twitter...

I cannot believe the amount of support we received!!! The page got a lot of likes the first couple of hours! And I want to thank each and every single person that went ahead and took the time to do just that, like the page.

Liss also said that even though she had made the cover picture for the page... We still didn't have a profile one...
Can you guess what happened?
Crazy photographer-editer-amateur-thing that I am... I took the task to do/make the image... Even though she hadn't asked me... I just, well... I thought I should help more in some other way.

And in the end... after a really quick surge of  adrenaline and really little thinking hehehe I came up with THIS

I know it's not the most awesome -for a cause- kind of image but it came from a really bad case of book-addiction slash online-shopping withdrawal :D

Anyway... The weekend came and I had to go out of town...

-The Happy Ending-
First thing in the late morning... I thought I'd grab my tablet and do a little email checking when...

My BookAngel Nat!!! posts on my timeline telling me that....

And then...
I had a panic attack...
I died...

I didn't know how to react...
I kept going back just to REALLY be sure it wasn't you know... a mind trick or an eye trick thing or something...

That's it...
That's OUR miracle, that's how good this 2013 seems...

That's how our tiny little not-known country got to be a bit noticed!!!
Thanks again to everyone who supported us!!!
Thanks to Liss for making the page and making me part of this!!!
Argh!! Thank you GOD!! FINALLY!! hehehe

I'm so freaking happy I can fly... :D
Or something...

That's why it's been comforting to have Jeremy, a child ghost, as her confidante. But recently he's been absent, perhaps lost as her father is. When Shay meets Hugh, the guy she's had a crush on for weeks, and finds he can speak to ghosts too she's just starting to find a normalcy in her life.

But as Hugh reveals the truth to Shay, about who she really is and about what it is she can do, he erases all chances she had at a normal existence. Turns out talking to ghosts is just scratching the surface of her genetically engineered gifts. Shay learns she may be part of an age old prophecy that could save the entire race of cryptids. But can she?
