-Blog Tour Stop, Quick Review & Excerpt- Skin Deep by T.G. Ayer

Welcome to my stop on the Skin Deep blog tour!
I'll be sharing a short excerpt and a quick review of the book ;)

*** Panther Shape-shifter Kailin Odel just wants to be normal. Leaving her clan, and her Alpha
responsibilities, to live with her grandmother in Chicago had been the best thing for her.
Only then did she discover her ability to track and kill the soul sucking undead creatures
called Wraiths. Now she protected the humans, and had something to be proud of.
But, when she discovers the body of a murdered shape shifter, Kailin has to come to terms
with the reality that her own kind are just as vulnerable as the humans.
The closer Kailin gets to the killer the more she has to face the intricacies of her people.
When the time comes can she accept who and what her real purpose is? ***

Quick excerpt,

-Armchair BEA- Blogger Development

Oh clouds...

I'm the worst person to come to when wanting advice for blogging.

I'm a simple person, I know nothing about html or anything related to it nor do I know how to design or go "pro" means. And after 2 years I still remain the same clueless way.

I do know that I'd like to try a lot of things in the blog but I either don't know how to or am not sure if I want to take that or this step.

I believe I have somewhat changed from the person who started blogging 2 years ago, who was extremely shy and couldn't interact much on the network.

Silly thing is, that's what I love most about the community. The interaction, the getting to know other people who enjoy what I enjoy equally.

But other than that I really think my blog hasn't changed THAT much.

-BookPics is Curious- Where is Alba?

Oh boy...

Not again...

I've gone and done it again :( I was supposed to be getting ready for ArmchairBEA and also write my Stacking The Shelves post as well as write a couple of reviews... But as you can see, none of that has truly happened for me.

The reason?

I decided to try and paint all the bedrooms in our new house... After 6 months of living here I've got to say... I love it but hate the fact that the whole house is the same color... Even the outside walls...
Add to that the fact that none, I mean, no one is sleeping in their respective rooms and you've got me all worked up because I really REALLY want my own room, like yesterday... Or a decade or so ago...

So I talked to my dad and BOOM! Out of nowhere we went and bought some paint last Wednesday.
Suffice it to say, I haven't seen the outside world since Wednesday afternoon, the world might have stopped moving for all I know and I wouldn't have noticed it.

I'm still missing a couple of things, like moving from one room to another and painting little somethings but I'm finished!!!
My sis helped some and then my dad helped me with my room when my sister didn't want to help me with it -_- after I spent a whole night making sure SHE liked what I was doing to HER room :/ whatever ¬_¬

And now I believe I can come back to blogging and living normally. I really really hope I can do that because this next week is going to be full of life here in the book blogosphere.

Check out what my world has been revolving around these past 4 days,

-Yes, for all those BDB fans that's the old language-
First room I painted and decorated... :D Kind of like it. The butterfly is my fave :D

2nd room... This is the biggest, largest, and everything superlative... I felt like my arms were going to fall off at any minute while painting this room!
-That's an intercom not a phone by the way lol :D

Didn't have time to have fun painting my nails but rather, painting the walls... T_T
My index's finger nail isn't as large anymore -sobs-

My lil sis room :D We had to improvise because the lilac paint wasn't going to be enough for the whole room :D

I'm still thinking what else to paint and do in there :D but I love that color... Though it wasn't enough... My sis had the idea of mixing all the left overs of the other colors and we made like a purple or something...
Now I have to move into my room AND wait-impatiently-for my shelves to be ready so I can unpack all my books <3

That's where I've been you guys :D hehehe
And I'm so tired but so happy to be getting my room back and moving everyone else to their respective rooms...

What about you guys?
Where have you all been?

Cover Obsession #22 -I'm crying of happiness. Thank you Tammara Webber Edition-

WHAT BETTER FREAKING WAY TO START A DAY THAN FINDING OUT ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE AUTHORS EVER EVER EVER to exist has revealed the cover for a book you feel you've been waiting a time longer than life to be released...

I'm so happy I can fly!!!

Let us fly together my beautiful people!!!!

Today I am featuring 2 book covers which were revealed, I believe, just yesterday.

One of them I'm obsessing over more because well... I HAVE read the previous books.

First of all...

-US edition, links to goodreads page-
Everyone has secrets.
Some are buried so deep, their existence is forgotten.
But a secret never told can turn into a lie.
And in love, a lie is one thing:

Here Without You is the fourth, final book in the Between the Lines series, which includes: Between the Lines, Where You Are, and Good For You
If you only KNEW!!!! Guys!! If ONLY!!! How much this excites me you'd be scared of me!
But well.
I love love love this cover!! Love it like you have NO FREAKING IDEA!!
Just seing SEEING IT gives me huge ideas as to what the story might be about.

When I saw the cover reveal at Tammara Webber's Website I just about flipped out from happiness!

This is a book I cannot wait to read and when I finally have it in my hands I'll feel bad for whatever current read will be put down to read this.
That's how good Tammara W.'s writing is and how much I love it.

And here's the UK cover for all of my UK friends out there.

-UK edition, links to goodreads page-
Isn't it awesome as well?!!!
Oh boy, I have to admit I'm all for the US cover this time. It's simply perfect.

Let us see them all pretty and together.

Ladies and Gentleman I present you PERFECTION in Book Covers INCARNATE!!

And the UK ;)

I'm in love with Tammara's work and these book covers just add to that love.

On to the next books that have covers worth obsessing over...

-US edition, links to goodreads page-

Isn't it awesome how perfectly well it goes with the first book's cover???!!
And check out the UK one as well!

-UK edition, links to goodreads page-
See what I'm talking about?
Great how they go with the previous books!!

In a time when publishers have gotten the awful great <- heavy sarcasm, idea of changing book covers out of freaking nowhere. It's good to know that at least this book hasn't suffered from that AND that they're doing great job of the book covers. They're gorgeous!

See how they look together?

Hecks yeah!!
Today is a freaking good day :D

-Blog Tour Stop, Excerpt + Giveaway- Drowning In You by Rebecca Berto

Welcome guys! To my stop on the Drowning in You by Rebecca Berto blog tour stop!!!!
Brought to you by the awesome Xpresso Book Tours (Be sure to check out all the other stops by going HERE.)

I've been waiting impatiently for my stop on this tour because lately these NA tittles have been driving me insane with how good they are getting and I really hope that this is not an exception.

While I have yet to read the book I'm here offering you a sneak peek of it!

But first, lets get to know a bit more about the book,

Secretly crushing

Crushed by a tragedy

Charlee May’s been crushing on Dexter Hollingworth since she was fifteen. Five years later, a horrific skiing disaster at Mason’s Ski Lift Resort leaves her millionaire dad critically injured and her mom dead at the hands of Dexter operating the lifts. Charlee is suddenly the sole caretaker for her little brother while their world falls apart.

Dexter couldn’t be more different from Charlee. He’s tattooed, avoids exclusive relationships and his Dad has a fair share of illegal dealings. With Dexter’s reputation, almost everyone believes he planned the Mason’s skiing disaster.

And after all these years he’s still crushing on Charlee May, the girl who’s too good for him.

When this cruel twist of fate ties Charlee’s family and Dexter’s reputation together, Charlee and Dexter wonder if their feelings are reciprocated, while Dexter discovers his dad is trying to steal the May’s millionaire fortune.

But like an addiction, one look, one touch, one taste—they’re hooked no matter the consequences.

Find the book,

From a note tucked under her pillow:
I like Dexter Hollingworth.
Dexter Hollingworth “killed” my parents.

1. Killer Crush

As per all the fourteen- to eighteen-year-olds at our school, I started crushing on Dexter Hollingworth around the age of fifteen. There was one girl who hated him, but she was into girls.
From the football field sidelines to graduation day and beyond, my best friend Rosa and I have wanted him. But guys like Dexter don’t notice girls like us who spend most of our time talking about cool people like him.
At twenty years old, I still “love” him.
I love the way his body personifies what a male God should be without looking like Fabio.
I love the way his perfect tanned skin is inked and how he wears those aviator sunglasses and how he’d use up his lunchtimes to teach the little kids in our school guitar lessons.
But I hate the way I love him.
I hate how Dexter was the one controlling the ski lifts at Mason’s Ski Resort the day my mom was killed because it also put me here, in this position, praying to a God I’ve never believed in to spare my dad’s life.
In this hospital room, the air is as quiet as the still of night and my dad’s languid breathing and drawn-out, heavy movements remind me that my perfect family life was never meant to be forever.
If I’m being honest, it seems like things are already over. Dad’s skin keeps a yellow color—at best—from the IV drip. His meds help with the simple tasks his heart and other organs can’t. My thoughts wander again. I don’t let myself consider the alternative—that maybe it’s wishful thinking. I go with this:
“Dad,” I say, jealous my little brother, Darcy is holding our dad’s hand—the hand he can squeeze with. “Look at you.” I wink.
“Is she okay, Dad?” Darcy asks, sounding as though he’s confused.
“Charlee?” The confusion is contagious, but Dad’s patient zero—not Darcy.
There are bars that raise and lower around Dad’s bed, and they’ve been raised forever. Surely they must be there because they’re too hard to put down in their scratched, old state. My dad doesn’t need silly bars around his bed! My dad owns Roycroft Engines.
“I think you’re squeezing Darcy’s hand too tight,” I say.
“Wha-at?” Darcy says. He’s staring at me with squinted eyes, probably thinking what’s wrong with my sister? She’s supposed to be the adult.
It hurts smiling like this, the creases halfway up my cheeks. But maybe it’ll work. “Isn’t that right, Dad?”
Dad’s eyes are like I remember them now. There’s vibrancy in the rich brown color, like my eyes. I bet he’s thinking is his daughter crazy? He tilts his head to the side—
Injured people don’t understand things like this. Injured people don’t get what’s unsaid. Dad’s not that injured.
—as it clicks. Dad shakes out of Darcy’s grip and waggles his finger at him. “That nurse…”
“Lisa Hollingworth,” I say.
“Yes, Lisa. That nurse Lisa said motor function is good. Squeezing someone’s hand uses up a lot more strength than you think, son.”
Darcy’s mouth flops open and stays that way. He checks out Dad, who’s nodding, and me—should I nod?—so I nod also.
“Squeezing your hand probably takes Dad twenty muscles and millions of brain cells just to do something like that.”
“No way!” Darcy grins and punches the air. “Dad, that’s cool.”
And just like that, Darcy has that same face on as he had when Mom told him she had to wait three hours in line to buy Desert Warcraft and yeah, she really, really got it for him.
That face is why I haven’t downed twenty sleeping pills yet. God knows these last weeks have felt like months, which actually felt like years. That makes me the most ancient twenty-year-old alive.
Why, Dexter? Why did it have to be you in that seat, in that room, at that time?

That sure seems like... Woah... Just... O_O

-Happy Mother's Day!!!- At least here.

[Non Edited Post]

Well, today, May 10th. Here in El Salvador and probably some other central american countries as well, celebrate Mother's day!!!

I love this day!! Not only is it a holiday, as in we get to skip work, school, everything... But we get to spend, thanks to the break, more time with our moms.

Now, I know my mom isn't perfect. She's far from it actually. But I love how that makes her unique and makes her the woman she is and the woman who raised me.

We've had our really high ups as well as really low downs... But I'm happy to say we're still joking as if she were my best friend some nights lol

And I'm proud proud to say that after a very hard "work" I've managed to make her start reading again!!

I just wanted to say a happy MOTHER'S DAY to all the Mamás out there!! Thanks for supporting us, thanks for standing up for us when we were too little to do so, thanks for all the colds you had to endure because we passed them along to you, thanks for all the chicken soups, for all the candy handed secretively so dad wouldn't notice, thanks for all the tears you've dried, for all the scoldings, for all the groundings-though I've yet to know what that means, to be grounded-for all the bandaids put on our knees...

But most of all, for loving us. Because no matter what we've become, no matter the place we live in now, whether it is still with our parents or so far away we barely see them anymore, no matter that some are already mothers of their own children... Because no matter nothing.
You still love us, since that very first time you saw us... You kissed us... You put us to sleep...
You still are our moms and that,my friends, is something NO ONE will never ever be able to take away from us.

For all the mothers that are, that were and that'll be...

I wish you blessings and a very joyful MOTHER'S DAY!!

I love you mami!!

And because I seriously seriously LOVE this picture of me and my mom I just had to share it. Again.

-This was so long ago and I look awful and everything... But seriously... I had JUST gotten these books... I didn't even know I was going to be a blogger then... And now... lololol :D -

She might not like how much I read but she certainly knows how to make me laugh :P
I love you mami :D

To celebrate, as you might have noticed, we're going a little on the bright side!!!
I really think the blog needs a new look... Sighs, we'll see about that :D

-Review- The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa

Goodreads Shortie:
Allison Sekemoto has vowed to rescue her creator, Kanin, who is being held hostage and tortured by the psychotic vampire Sarren. The call of blood leads her back to the beginning—New Covington and the Fringe, and a vampire prince who wants her dead yet may become her wary ally.

My Thoughts¿?

I think this book is the only book published this year that has completely blown my mind. As in, Idon'tknowwhattodowithmylifenowthatI'vefinished kind of blown...

I can't even form into words what this book made me feel, do, tear up about, scream for... Seriously.

I've tried for a month or so, to sit down and simply go ahead and write my review.

And even now, there still aren't enough words. I said so to the author on twitter, I was left an awful mess on the floor. And I really am hoping for a third book because, after how things ended in this one... There is absolutely NO possibility of me living a normal life if I don't know what happens next.

I can't even come up with all the passages of the book I loved because that'll entail writing the whole thing down over here and as you may know, that's illegal.

I'm Team Allie!!!
I fell in love all over again, that's for sure. I'm 100% sure I fell in love while at the same time feeling completely creeped out. I loved Zeke even more than I did in the first book. I came to like a character I NEVER in a million lifetimes would have imagined I'd like... But if I tell you the name of said character... I'd kind of be spoiling you the surprise so... Suffice it to say... I was shocked.

And of COURSE... Kanin, the love of my life. I missed him dearly dearly... And now... I don't! Because this book is full of all-things-Kanin and I have none other than the amazing Julie Kagawa to thank for that.

I can't write this without acknowledging that, Sarren, for all intents and purposes... Raisd the hairs on the back of my neck EVERY single time he showed up.

But whatever you think this book has, contains, will make you feel. It is THAT but so much more. So very much more.

A book that'll keep you on the edge of your sit since the very beginning, that'll raise goosebumps, and make you cry with all your might.
I already miss all the characters.

Thank you Julie Kagawa for writing in such an exquisite way that depicted excellently the terrible and horrible of this world you have created.

I give this book, BookPics special rating.

10special-fotitos(special rating for over-the-top-I'll-never-get-over-this book) =
I cried for things I didn't know possible I was capable of.

-review based on galley provided by the publisher via Netgalley-

I'm sorry I wasn't very creative in writing my review. But I mean it when I say, speechless is an understatement of how I felt after I read this masterpiece of a book.

-Book Blitz, Book Spotlight- All My Life by Rucy Ban

Hello lovelies!
Today there are a lot of releases that I'm sure I want to own and have already made a space in my soon-to-be shelf for said books.

This post is to spotlight one of them :D

This book is for MATURE audiences ONLY

Seventeen-year-old Kari meets Neil Mars. “Neil as in Armstrong and Mars…as in Bruno.” A boy who beats every vampire, werewolf, highlander fantasy Kari has ever had. But she knows she can’t get close to him. Not ever. Because that would mean telling him everything. Coming clean. And Kari can’t bear the idea of changing the way Neil looks at her. Like she’s the only girl in the world. His reverence is something too precious to lose. Perhaps even at the cost of losing him.

But Kari doesn't know why Neil calls her his ‘Angel’ and when she finds out, she realizes what love is all about. Boundless joy, unending longing and a fuckload of heartache.

Mature Content Warning.
For 17+.

Check out some excerpts ;)

“I can take care of myself,” I tell him.
His lips twitch in response. “Oh, I’m sure you can, little shrub.”
“You are warned!” I take my voice down a notch and point my ring at him, “I’ll tunnel your leathery knighthood right out of this galaxy!”
Neil suddenly halts in his tracks and pins me down with his eyes. “Batman vs. Green Lantern? Batman wins. Every. Single. Time.”
“Ohmygod! So not true. In the…”
He cuts me. “One word…yellow.” I stare at him with my mouth half-open.
“‘Nuff said,” he says smugly and then tugs on my hand.

Maybe I’ll forget this feeling someday. Maybe it’ll just be reduced to a memory made up of a flickering gas heater, the salty dew of his skin and the love in his dark, inky eyes. This feeling of pure unadulterated joy. Of reaching a high so potent that your spirit feels like it’s soaring across the universe…and falling from that glorious peak only to find yourself enveloped in someone’s warm caring hands. When you feel like you’ve just died or been born, right at the same time.
It could be that I’ll forget this feeling someday. But I’m sure it won’t be anytime soon. Maybe when I’m a hundred and looking forward to my lunch of mashed bread. Not one single day before.

About The Author ;)

Rucy Ban was born in 1978 and still continues to thrive. Ever since she first met Francine (the protagonist of her favorite novel, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn), Rucy fell in love with the written word. Rucy has a B-school degree in Marketing which she now puts to good use teaching lovable rowdy rogues and negotiating with her equally belligerent adolescent. In her previous avatar, she handled corporate communications for companies. At present, Rucy lives in Sao Paulo, travels often, speaks decent, if not quite fluent, Portuguese and really hates talking about herself in third person.
